Park's Grounds Maintenance

Summary/Objective: Supervises and performs services for evenings and weekend park operations and performs grounds maintenance duties. This is not a security enforcement position.

Essential Functions: 

· Displays proficient knowledge of all park rules, regulations, and enforcement procedures.

· Coordinates with Parks’ Administration staff on scheduled events held at parks, including Christmas at Panther Creek Park

· Deals courteously and tactfully with parks’ visitors while maintaining good public relations.

· Performs parking duties and crowd control for large scheduled events.

· Responsible for enforcing all canceled park activities due to rain or inclement weather events.

· Performs required maintenance on ball fields during tournament play.

· Routinely inspects and performs generic preventive and simple corrective maintenance of playground equipment, water fountains, picnic shelters, scoreboards, and bleachers.

· Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of park (i.e., restrooms and shelter building cleaning, litter control, and nature center care)

· Keeps Maintenance Supervisor informed of all maintenance needs, public complaints, safety hazards, and required supplies to perform required job duties.

· Performs daily litter pick-up and trash removal.

· Operates light ground maintenance equipment and vehicles.

· Keeps Maintenance Supervisor informed of all damages, repair needs, and supply requisitions.

· Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. · Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

· Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently scheduled to work after sunset and in the dark.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and depth perception.

Position type and expected hours of work:  Part-Time. Mornings, evenings and/or weekends. 

Required education and experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional eligibility qualifications: Valid driver’s license.
