About the Role:
The Park Playground Summer position is designed to create a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment for children during the summer months. The primary goal is to facilitate recreational activities that promote physical fitness, social interaction, and creativity among participants. This role involves planning and leading various games, sports, and arts and crafts, ensuring that all activities are inclusive and cater to diverse interests. Additionally, the position requires monitoring the safety and well-being of all children, addressing any conflicts or issues that may arise. Ultimately, the successful candidate will contribute to a positive summer experience that fosters community spirit and personal growth for all participants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of campers in your program.
- Plan and implement daily recreational activities and programs for children of various age groups.
- Lead group events such as field games, arts and crafts.
- Respond to incidents, such as behavior problems or accidents.
- Work with other camp staff to coordinate activities.
- Assist other staff in cleaning up the camp as needed.
- Assist Director and Supervisor in unpacking and re-packing daily supplies.
- Enthusiastically and attentively lead, support and motivate campers as they enjoy group activities and events.
- Monitor campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
- Assist Supervisory staff at pool and on field trips.
- Supervise campers while on field trips. Sit with campers and keep them with you at all times.
- Be responsible for camper’s safety while on field trips or going to pool.
- Supervise children in pool as scheduled. This includes bringing a bathing suit and swimming with your campers.
- Willingness to stay beyond schedule hours for paid additional time if needed.
- Accept supervisory authority for Supervisors/Directors who need to take care of situations as they arise.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of all participants during activities and in the playground area.
- Engage with children to encourage participation and foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their children's experiences and any concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the playground and equipment used during activities.
