Job Description

The Pantry Cook is responsible for preparing and executing cold and pantry menu items while maintaining high standards for quality, consistency, presentation, and food safety. This position works closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of food during service.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Prepare salads, appetizers, sandwiches, desserts, sauces, dressings, and other pantry items according to recipe and presentation standards.
• Maintain proper food preparation, portioning, and plating procedures.
• Set up and stock the pantry station before service and maintain proper product levels throughout the shift.
• Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation.
• Communicate effectively with cooks, chefs, servers, and management during service.
• Monitor food quality and freshness and notify management of any concerns.
• Assist with prep and other kitchen duties as needed.
• Follow all recipes, portion controls, and kitchen procedures.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position or equivalent culinary experience.
• Previous restaurant or high-volume kitchen experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking techniques, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen supplies as needed.
• Food Handler certification, or ability to obtain one, as required.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent lifting, moving and carrying of kitchenware, cleaning equipment, food boxes, garbage etc. weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Standing for the duration of a 6+ hour shift with appropriate breaks.
• Regular and prolonged standing and walking to prepare food, clean workstations, move garbage, etc.
• Occasional ascending/descending stairs across the restaurant to move food items, equipment, etc.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
• Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
• Constant bending, stooping and turning, etc.
• Constant exposure to hot and damp temperature fluctuations
