Outside Sales Account Manager - Industrial Automation

AFS is seeking an Outside Sales Account Manager to grow our business across the greater Dayton, OH area by strengthening existing customer relationships and developing new accounts.

In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted consultant and solutions partner, helping customers identify the right products and automation solutions to maintain and improve their operations. You’ll work closely with current and prospective customers to understand their needs, develop solutions, and drive long-term growth.

This position offers a remote work arrangement but requires frequent travel to customer sites throughout the Dayton metropolitan area. Accordingly, candidates must reside within a reasonable distance to the assigned territory.

Essential Functions

• Build and manage strategic customer relationships, developing a deep understanding of customer businesses, stakeholders, strategies, and challenges.
• Engage customers regularly to communicate AFS’s value propositions and technical solutions.
• Drive account growth by identifying new applications, business opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive account knowledge, including customer business performance, future-state plans, and competitive relationships.
• Collaborate with Application Engineers, CSMs, CSRs, and other internal stakeholders to address customer needs and resolve issues.
• Coordinate customer requests and opportunities to ensure timely follow-through and exceptional service.

Experience, Education and Skills

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• 5+ years of technical sales experience in electrical industrial automation, electrical controls, or a related field.
• Knowledge of sales principles, strategies, and business development.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce CRM.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to sell products and services in a competitive environment.
• Professional, self-directed, dependable, and highly organized, with strong time management and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
