The full-time annual base salary range for this position is: Assistant Professor rank: $265,000 to $278,552 / Associate Professor: $281,242 to $295,624; commensurate with experience and rank. The Department of Psychiatry has an outstanding opportunity for an Adult Outpatient Psychiatrist to join our growing team in the provision of ambulatory psychiatric care. An ideal candidate is a dynamic clinician/educator interested in system-based care approaches, complex cases and care improvement efforts, driven to seek out and integrate current evidence and scholarly findings in their practice and teaching in furtherance of the university’s mission of excellence in education, research, clinical care, outreach and public service.  Faculty are eligible and encouraged to fulfill roles in the department's and clinic's strategic care initiatives such as in interventional psychiatry, collaborative care, etc.

The Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic recently moved into a thoughtfully designed and newly renovated space where all four outpatient psychiatry clinics are co-located, creating greater opportunities for collaboration and connection. We have a strong academic environment where teaching, mentoring, and supervising trainees are meaningful parts of the work we do.

Our clinic continues to grow and expand, including TMS and esketamine services, alongside meaningful investments in clinical support staff and the infrastructure needed to support high-quality patient care. The incumbent will have an exceptional opportunity to collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, clinical support staff, and trainees within a highly collegial and multidisciplinary environment.

The OHSU Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic is comprised of a collaborative group of psychiatrists, PMHNPs, physician assistants, psychologists, neuropsychologists and a group of 20-24 psychiatry residents. The clinic offers access to an expanded array of treatment facilities and methodologies, providing expert consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a wide variety of mental health conditions including: mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma-related disorders, somatic symptom disorders, ADHD and others.

The duties of this position include:

Build and maintain an outpatient continuity clinic (combination of in-person and telehealth visits). Appointment times for intakes and consultations are 60-90 minutes, 30 minutes for medication management and 60-minute slots available for combined psychotherapy and medication management. Providers have the flexibility to follow-up with patients as frequently as appropriate to provide the best quality of care.

Outpatient psychiatric consultations are encouraged at 0.1FTE (2 consults per week).

Clinical education of residents through outpatient supervision will comprise at least 0.1FTE.

Faculty take call 2-4 weeks per year. Call is comprised of in-person coverage of the inpatient C/L psychiatric services on weekend mornings (staffing with residents in-person) followed by after clinic hours call (supporting residents by phone) for the remainder of the week.  Our faculty work as a team to cover each other’s messages and urgent clinical issues while away on any leave or paid time off.  Faculty are expected to participate in this collegial coverage pool.

Faculty are expected to participate in monthly departmental and clinic meetings and attend weekly, CME-accredited Grand Rounds/M&M presentations. Service on Departmental and University committees and research consultation as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Must be MD/DO and must be BE/BC in Psychiatry.
• Graduate of an ACGME-approved Psychiatry Residency.
• Eligible to obtain unrestricted medical license in the state of Oregon.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional experience with clinical education of trainees preferred.

Additional Details

Recruitment Process:

The recruitment process will include brief meetings with 1) the clinic medical director 2) the clinic manager and 3) a panel of 2-3 teaching faculty. Ideal candidates will then be invited to participate in a resident supervision session prior to meeting with the Chairman of our department.

• Paid Time Off:  For full-time positions, 208 hours per year; accrual begins at time of employment.
