Role Overview
As an Outpatient Complex Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant coding of diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records. Your work directly impacts reimbursement, patient care evaluation, and administrative decision-making, supporting both healthcare providers and patients across our system.

What You Will Do
- Review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records for billing and reimbursement purposes.
- Abstract and compile accurate patient data to support medical research, patient care evaluation, and administrative decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Promote accurate database information and optimize reimbursement through precise coding practices.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Additional specialty coding certification or five (5) years of coding experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), CPC, or CCS.
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two (1-2) years of college or additional coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences.
- Specialty coding experience.
