The Work You Will Do:

OPS Internship – CO / Application Services

The intern will support the Office of Information Technology (OIT) by assisting with IT project coordination, documentation, data analysis, and reporting, including dashboard development with Power BI. Responsibilities include tracking project deliverables, organizing and validating data, supporting quality assurance activities, contributing to process improvements, and participating in meetings to capture notes and follow up on tasks. This role offers hands-on experience in an enterprise IT environment, focusing on system modernization, data-driven reporting, operational enhancements, and skills relevant to IT project leadership.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The intern will support the OIT team working on multiple enterprise technology initiatives. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in IT project coordination, application modernization, data reporting, and stakeholder support within a large public-sector organization.

Duties may include:

• Assisting with the coordination and tracking of multiple IT initiatives and deliverables

• Supporting documentation of project plans, schedules, risks, and action items

• Assisting with data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development using Power BI

• Helping gather, validate, and organize data used for reporting and decision-making

• Supporting testing, validation, and quality assurance activities for applications and tools

• Assisting with process improvement, inventories, and technical documentation

•Participating in meetings, capturing notes, and following up on assigned tasks

The intern will gain experience working in an enterprise IT environment, supporting initiatives related to system modernization, data-driven reporting, governance, and operational improvements. This role is intended to mirror the foundational responsibilities of an IT Project team member while being provided guidance and mentorship.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Preferred Fields of Study: Information Technology, Information Systems, IT Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Skills:

•      Basic understanding of IT project management concepts or SDLC fundamentals

•      Interest in IT governance, application services, or technology modernization

•      Familiarity with data analysis concepts; Power BI experience is a plus

•      Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills

•      Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on assignments

•      Knowledge of website development and compliance

•      Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Power BI preferred)

•      The willingness to learn and work in a structured, team-based environment

GPA Preference:

• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher, or relevant coursework and demonstrated interest in IT or IT management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide identification supporting citizenship or authority to work for the duration of program participation.
• Participants are required to comply with all statutes and rules and the Department’s policies, procedures, regulations, and Code of Ethics.
