High school diploma or equivalent is required
Additional requirement:
- Three (3) years of secretarial or office clerical work experience to include the use of Microsoft Office software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection
- Knowledge of office procedures and practices
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Knowledge of basic filing practices
- Knowledge of the techniques for handling telephone calls in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Ability to type letters, memoranda and other standard business forms in correct format.
- Ability to organize files and other records.
- Ability to use correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner

SPECIAL NOTES:
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This position will be filled at $20.00 per hour at 29 hours per week.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Assists the Director’s Office Staff by providing administrative and logistical administrative support.
- Prioritizes and prepares general correspondence, memorandums and reports, varying from simple letters to those dealing with legal and technical matters.
- Coordinates with Bureau’s to ensure monthly and annual reports of section functions and activities are completed and appropriately distributed when due.
- Maintain databases, spreadsheets and records.
- Initiate, Format and/or proofread internal and external correspondence for dissemination.
- Maintains appointment calendars, multi-line telephone experience, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
