As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our ophthalmology clinics. Your responsibilities will include: 

Patient Work-Up: Conduct basic patient assessments, including visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and dilation. 
Testing and Evaluation: Perform a range of tests such as confrontation visual fields, cover testing, and versions, and assist in manifest refractions. 
Patient Interaction: Greet patients warmly, explain testing procedures, answer questions, and provide necessary education. 
Team Collaboration: Work closely with our clinical support team and providers to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow. 
Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by recognizing and addressing common safety hazards. 
Documentation: Utilize our EMR system to accurately record patient data and ensure it’s ready for provider review. 

Qualifications: Education: High school diploma is required; some college or a degree is preferred. Certification as a COA or COT is a plus. 

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare environment.

Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Proficiency: Experienced in using EMR systems to manage patient information efficiently.

Typing Proficiency: Demonstrates excellent typing skills, with a minimum speed of 45 words per minute and high accuracy.
Active Listening and Learning: Proficient in listening and comprehending tasks and instructions, with a strong willingness to learn on the job.
Knowledge of Diagnostic Codes: Familiar with diagnostic codes, aiding in accurate patient record management.
Empathetic and Patient-Focused: Shows genuine concern and empathy for patients’ needs and experiences.
Effective Team Coordination: Communicates and collaborates effectively with the team to maintain optimal clinic workflow.
Team Player: Works cooperatively and supportively with all team members to ensure a cohesive work environment.
Medical and Optical Knowledge: Possesses a basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and optical principles, including refraction and contact lenses, and is familiar with the use of optical equipment.
