On Call Qualified Mental Health Professional

This position provides crisis assessments, interventions, and short-term stabilization services to individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges while maintaining a strong commitment for a person-centered trauma informed care lens for the 23-Hour Adult Crisis and Stabilization Program in Clackamas County. Salary $32-$34/HR PRN as needed. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitates completion of all initial behavioral health assessments when clients experiencing a behavioral health crisis present at the crisis center within the designated amount of time allowed by contract.
• Identifies client’s immediate needs to facilitate discharge from the crisis center.
• De-escalates clients experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis.
• Ensures delivery of services as identified in the crisis center contract. Typical services may include but are not limited to: crisis and risk factor assessment, providing emergency/crisis psychotherapy services including de-escalation for clients experiencing acute mental health crisis, providing individual/group/family psychotherapy, coordinating/collaborating with identified treatment team members, creating discharge/aftercare plans to ensure ongoing stabilization for clients leaving the crisis center, and reporting issues of legal, ethical or safety to the proper channels.
• Documents all provided services in client’s record.
• Collaborates routinely with the Crisis Center Director, Licensed Medical Practitioner, Crisis Center Supervisors, clients and other key personnel as identified as essential to client care.
• Demonstrates competence/knowledge with regards and implementation of both effective psychological theories and clinical practice.
• If applicable completes required continued education annually in the field of licensure as required by the State of Oregon Licensing Board. Maintains current professional licensure within field of practice to the standards/ requirements as set by the Bureau of occupational Licenses.
• Maintains confidentiality of all client documents, files and communication in written, electronic and/or verbal form.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere, and maintaining a clean and positive environment.
• Leads the team in staffing after each client’s assessment and at the start of every clinician shift pass-off. Leads the team in making decisions for client’s care while in the facility and regarding discharge plans by engaging each discipline in the decision-making process.
• Completes wellness and safety plan prior to discharge if client is at high risk for suicide or homicide.
• Monitors client safety such as checking on clients every minute when client is in the bathrooms, observing clients in the day and sleeping areas, talking with clients in between assessment and discharge, reassessing clients that are suicidal or homicidal prior to discharge.
• Participate in any in-service training for team members.
• When necessary, provides in-service training to staff regarding clinical and psychiatric issues.
• Writes client information for triage and identifies acuity level of client for team.
• Completes intake form by identifying if it is a full or partial admission and by putting a Z-code on it.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) or as necessary to support the program and/or the company.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Master’s Degree in relevant field: Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Science Field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must met the Oregon QMHP criteria as defined by the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs).
  Or
• Licensed or actively pursuing in one of the following licenses in the state of Oregon: LPC, LCSW, LMFT. (preferred)
• Ability to pass background checks.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to teach coping/life skills while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with clients.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a mental health or crisis setting. (preferred)
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time.
• Ability to perform basic word processing and utilize documentation systems for the completion of tasks or has the ability to learn these skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret state regulations and corporate policies. Capacity to establish written treatment plans as directly related to identified clinic service needs, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, clients and the public.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
• Possess organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and be flexible.
• Ability to provide the best care possible.
• Ability to create an organizational culture that respects and celebrates the diversity of our consumers and staff.
