Job Details: Job Location: Immanuel Living at Buffalo Hill - Kalispell, MT, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $35.00 - $42.00Hourly, Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide skilled occupational therapy services to the guests and residents of Immanuel Living.

Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or GED preferred
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program

Professional Licenses or Certifications Required by Law

Registration by the National Board for Certification in Occupational therapy, Inc.
Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Montana     
Current CPR certification

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements

The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age, as position operates potentially hazardous equipment.  
The incumbent must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work under time and/or deadline pressures.
Required vision abilities include close up and distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Job Responsibilities

Specific Duties

Evaluate residents upon physician order for occupational therapy.
Provide skilled occupational therapy intervention as described in the treatment plan.
Attend care conferences as needed to assist in developing and revising the guest/resident care plans.
Participate in Medicare, admissions, and monthly Rehabilitation Department meetings.
Work and coordinate with all team members to meet guest/residents’ needs.
Serve as an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, facilitating a unified approach to guest/resident treatment.
Ensure occupational therapy programs are regularly updated in a manner which will most effectively benefit guests/residents.
Train staff members in specific techniques related to each guest/residents’ individual needs.
Develop restorative programs and train restorative aides to carry out these programs.
Work different shifts, including weekends, to provide optimal guest/resident care.
Work independently, while prioritizing duties and responsibilities, taking on additional assignments, maintaining accuracy and timeliness with documentation, and demonstrating the ability to problem solve.
Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from others.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision / Leadership

Supervise Occupational therapy Assistants (COTA) and Rehabilitation Aides and provide clear communication and direction to concerning resident care and treatment.

Decision Making

This position may make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Decisions, final recommendations, and/or errors made by the incumbent may affect guests/residents and other staff in the unit/department that this position is assigned to but may, on occasion, affect all staff of Immanuel Living Communities. 
Job duties typically involve frequently changing conditions and problems, requiring considerable judgment in applying factual background and fundamental principles to the development of approaches and techniques for the solution of problems.
This position cannot authorize exceptions to Corporate policy or procedure.

Documentation

Complete required documentation, including evaluations, required Medicare documentation, care plan entries, daily progress notes, and weekly summaries before the end of the shift.

Communication

Effectively work and communicate with a wide range of individuals from all socio-economic groups, including geriatric guests/residents and those with special needs.
Communicate on a regular basis with guests/residents and/or their designees regarding occupational therapy intervention.
Communicate verbally and in writing to other staff members regarding guest/resident care issues.
Communicate with supervisor on a routine basis.
Participate in training and/or meetings that help facilitate the departmental communication process.

Environmental Conditions

This position works in a temperature-controlled facility and may travel to and from buildings in all weather conditions.
This position may be exposed to:

Risk of cuts, burns, shock, or other minor injuries not requiring hospitalization
Unpleasant substances, odors, noises
