Job Details: Job Location: 401 LOOP RD - FORT PIERCE, FL, Salary Range: Undisclosed, The Nutrition Educator supports Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission by providing practical, engaging, and culturally responsive nutrition education to individuals and families throughout the communities we serve. This position helps neighbors build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make nutritious food choices while working within their individual resources, preferences, and circumstances.

Working in community settings throughout the Treasure Coast, the Nutrition Educator develops and delivers educational programs, cooking demonstrations, recipes, and other resources that make healthy eating approachable, affordable, and accessible. This position also builds relationships with partner agencies, healthcare organizations, and community groups to expand the reach of nutrition education and strengthen the connection between food security and improved health.

What will you do as Treasure Coast Food Bank's Nutrition Educator?

As Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Nutrition Educator, you will bring nutrition education directly into the communities we serve. You will facilitate engaging classes, presentations, cooking demonstrations, and other educational activities designed to help children, families, older adults, and other community members make informed and practical food choices.

Following company and State-instituted policies and curriculum, you will work with community partners to identify opportunities for nutrition programming, develop recipes and educational resources, and help incorporate healthy-choice strategies throughout Treasure Coast Food Bank’s programs and partner network. You will also be responsible for assessing clients and tracking participation, outcomes, and community feedback to measure program impact and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Through a combination of education, creativity, relationship-building, and community outreach, you will help make nutritious eating more accessible while advancing Treasure Coast Food Bank’s commitment to alleviating hunger and building healthier communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Nutrition Education & Program Delivery

Assist with the development, implementation, and delivery of nutrition education programs at Treasure Coast Food Bank program sites, partner agencies, healthcare partner locations, and community settings.
Complete client assessments in the community for program eligibility.
Facilitate engaging nutrition classes, workshops, presentations, and other educational activities for diverse audiences.
Provide practical education related to healthy eating, meal planning, food preparation, food safety, and making nutritious choices on a limited budget.
Adapt educational approaches and materials to meet the needs of children and families, older adults, and culturally and economically diverse populations.
Support the implementation of evidence-informed nutrition education curricula and organizational programming.
Help incorporate healthy-choice strategies into Food Bank programs and partner agency environments.

Cooking Demonstrations & Nutrition Resources

Develop and test nutritious, affordable, practical, and culturally appropriate recipes using foods commonly available through Treasure Coast Food Bank and its partner network.
Plan and facilitate cooking demonstrations at community events, partner sites, Food Bank programs, and other outreach locations.
Assist with the creation of nutrition education materials, recipes, handouts, presentations, videos, and other resources for community use.
Collaborate with the Nutrition Education team to develop and distribute nutrition messaging and healthy-choice resources.
Ensure nutrition information and educational materials are accurate, accessible, and appropriate for the intended audience.

Community Outreach & Partnerships

Build and strengthen relationships with partner agencies, healthcare organizations, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand nutrition education opportunities.
Identify prospective community partners and opportunities to increase participation in nutrition programming.
Assist with identifying and training community partners to support nutrition education initiatives.
Serve as a resource and liaison for partner organizations seeking nutrition education support.
Represent Treasure Coast Food Bank at community events, presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and outreach activities.
Communicate Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission and promote awareness of the connection between food security, nutrition, and overall health.

Program Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Maintain accurate and timely records of nutrition education activities, participation, outcomes, and other required program information.
Utilize internal databases and reporting systems to track program activity and statistical information.
Collect participant and partner feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
Assist with preparation of reports and documentation related to nutrition education programming.
Maintain organized program records and complete assigned deliverables accurately and within established deadlines.
Participate in program planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.

Team & Mission Support

Collaborate with the Nutrition Education, Programs, and other Treasure Coast Food Bank teams to support organizational initiatives.
Cross-train and provide support in other areas of the Programs Department as needed.
Assist with special projects, community events, and Food Bank initiatives.
Maintain a professional, welcoming, compassionate, and helpful attitude when interacting with neighbors, partners, volunteers, and coworkers.
Uphold Treasure Coast Food Bank policies, procedures, and best practices related to food safety and sanitation.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission and organizational goals

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Nutrition Science, Dietetics, Public Health, Health Education, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in nutrition education, health education, community outreach, public health, or a related field preferred.
Experience providing education or programming in community-based settings preferred.
Experience working with individuals and families experiencing food insecurity or with culturally and economically diverse populations preferred.
Experience working with children and families, older adults, individuals experiencing housing insecurity, or other vulnerable populations is a plus.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

General knowledge of nutrition, healthy food preparation, food safety, and community health education.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated public speaking, presentation, training, and group facilitation skills.
Ability to communicate nutrition concepts in a practical and easy-to-understand manner.
Ability to develop recipes, educational materials, presentations, and other program resources.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong recordkeeping and data management skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative working relationship with the Programs team.
Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Valid Florida driver’s license, insurable driving record, and reliable transportation required.
Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in a combination of office, Food Bank, partner agency, healthcare, and community environments and requires regular local travel throughout Treasure Coast Food Bank’s service area.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout Food Bank and community locations.
Ability to transport nutrition education materials, presentation supplies, food, and cooking demonstration equipment as needed.
Ability to safely prepare and handle food during cooking demonstrations and educational activities.
Ability to operate a computer, audiovisual equipment, and other equipment necessary for presentations, demonstrations, data entry, and program administration.
Ability to travel regularly to partner agencies, community events, program sites, and outreach locations.
Flexible schedule required, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on program and community needs.
