POSITION TITLE: Family Nurse Practitioner
DEPARTMENT: Family Medicine
REPORTS TO: Chief Medical Officer
POSITIOIN OVERVIEW: The Family Nurse Practitioner may perform his/her duties under the direct supervision of the physician. Supervision means overseeing the activities of, and accepting the responsibility for, the medical services rendered by a Family Nurse Practitioner. (The supervising physician need not be physically present at the time of services but shall be immediately available by telecommunications and within reasonable distance to assume personal care).

As a nonprofit federally qualified health center, Family Health Care Centers of Greater Los Angeles (FHCCGLA) has been providing health care services for low income and marginalized residents of its service area for more than 86 years. Founded in 1925 as “The Mother's Clinic,” FHCCGLA has provided uninterrupted healthcare services over the years. In 2008, FHCCGLA received its Federally Qualified Health Center designation in recognition of the comprehensive primary care that it provides indigent and medically uninsured residents. In 2011 FHCCGLA provided health care services to over 10,000 patients through over 35,000 patient visits. Currently FHCCGLA provides care through four facilities: the Bell Gardens Family Medical Center; the Hawaiian Gardens Health Center; the Downey Family Health Center; and Montebello Family Health Center.
