Nurse Practitioner

Purpose:
The APN will conduct comprehensive health assessments aimed at health promotion and disease prevention as well as diagnose and manage common acute illnesses, with referral as appropriate and manage stable conditions. The APN may perform minor procedures for which he/she has been trained if within his/her licensure and the scope of the supervising or collaborative physician.In the provision of these services, APNs may order, conduct, and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and prescribe pharmacologic agents, treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies. Educating and counseling individuals and their families regarding healthy lifestyle behaviors are key components of APN care. These services will be provided under a Standard of Care Agreement with a supervising or collaborating physician as appropriate. In the hospital, the APN can obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical examinations, order and perform routine diagnostic procedures, as indicated; identify normal and abnormal findings on histories, physical examinations and commonly performed diagnostic studies; assess patients and develop and implement treatment plans for patients; monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in conjunction with a Supervising Physician only as consistent with THS' Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and any applicable THS policies.

Responsibilities:
 

• Provide professional APN services that are usually and customarily provided by APN who practice in the same specialty in an office and hospital practice in the USA consistent with the APN`s training and scope of practice of his/her Collaborative Physician. Provides professional patient care services to all patients of TFCC at reasonable times and as required to meet the clinical needs of such patients. Diagnose and/or treat patients as scheduled by TFCC consulting Collaborative Physician as appropriate and as determined by the Collaborating Agreement. Accept all scheduled patients regardless of payer type or ability to pay and give full authority to TFCC to schedule patients accordingly, subject to APN`s professional ethics. Keep all office practice medical records up to date. Maintain high level of quality in medical care rendered to patients. Maintain individual productivity.
• Follow Clinical Care Protocols and Pathways as appropriate to each patient. Maintain participating provider status in any health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, and any other managed health care delivery product, system or plan, in which and the extent that, THS is or becomes a participating provider. Maintain appropriate staff privileges in good standing on the THS Medical Staff and by governed by THS' Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and any applicable THS policies. Assist THS with the general teaching programs of THS as may be required of other Medical Staff members by THS or as may be required by applicable accreditation agencies. Assist THS with initiating activities to promote the growth of TFCC including but not limited to (a) teaching in and outside the THS, and (b) public presentations to service groups, industry representatives, etc. Assist and advise THS in its applying for and maintaining all licenses, certifications, certificates of need, and accreditations necessary or desirable for operation of the TFCC, which may include Joint Commission, State licensing and Federal licensing and shall assist THS in preparing for scheduled on-site surveys by licensing or accrediting bodies.
• Comply with all applicable rules, regulations and policies of THS and its Medical Staff in effect from time to time. APN shall comply with THS' Corporate Compliance policies and Conflicts of Interest policies. Complete medical records in a timely manner consistent with THS Rules and Regulations. Assist TFCC in assuring that it meets or exceeds all requirements mandated by any regulatory agency having jurisdiction over THS, including but not limited to, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, Ohio Department of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, OccupationalSafety and Health Administration, and the U.S. Center for Disease Control.

• Completion of an APN approved Master's Degree in a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission.Training as specified in the THS Medical Staff Bylaws and Credentials Procedure manual. 
• Continuing medical education to, at a minimum, maintain a current Ohio Certificate of Authority.Knowledge of documentation rules and protocols. 

• Competency with use of THS and office-based computer systems.Understanding of insurance rules and requirements.

  Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: 

  BLS Provider or obtain within 3 months of hire.ACLS Provider or obtain with one year from date of hire.

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner
• Registered Nurse (RN)

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
