The Role

This part-time position supports the instructional and programming needs of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The Tennis Professional will deliver high-quality instruction, promote player development, and provide a positive on-court experience for players of all ages and skill levels.

• Create a fun, energetic, and engaging environment for players of all ages and skill levels.
• Demonstrate high-level playing techniques and lead dynamic drilling lessons and clinics.
• Proactively engage with clients and utilize networking to grow participation.
• Plan, organize, and execute programs including clinics, camps, drop-in sessions, and private lessons.
• Assist with the organization and management of USTA events and tournaments (singles and doubles).
• Implement player development systems, incorporating the Net Generation format where applicable.
• Promote the USTA brand by delivering warm, professional hospitality to members and guests.
• Support US Open operations and fulfill assigned event duties.

Who You Are

• Strong on-court tennis proficiency with the ability to demonstrate advanced playing techniques and effectively instruct players of varying ages and skill levels.
• Previous tennis instruction, coaching, or player development experience.
• Knowledge of USTA player development principles and age-appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Experience with R.O.G.Y. (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow) tennis formats and junior player development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and build positive relationships with fellow staff, players, parents, and guests.
• Ability to lead group clinics, camps, private lessons, and other tennis programming in a professional and engaging environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to support tennis programs, events, and tournaments.
• Current USTA Coaching, and/or PTR professional certification required.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on programming and business needs, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
• Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities within the tennis industry and/or continuing education.
• Must be able to work onsite at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. 
• Must be available to work a part-time schedule of up to 28 hours per week. 

What We Offer 

• This is an hourly position with an expected pay range between $25.00 - $45.00 per hour.The actual hourly rate offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
• Plan for your future financially and professionally: 401(k) plan with employer matching of up to 6.5%, eligible after completing 1,000 hours of work within a 12-month period.
