Job Description
Love sports, leadership, and being part of a great game-day experience? RCX Sports is hiring NFL FLAG Officials (1099 Independent Contractors) to support NFL FLAG leagues across Michigan (multiple locations). We hire and staff officials year-round across multiple seasons (Spring, Summer, and Fall), and assignments vary by league location and seasonal schedule.

Role type

- Seasonal, league-based assignments (multiple sites across Charlotte, NC)
- Hiring occurs year-round for multiple seasons: Spring (Apr–mid-Jun), Summer (mid-Jun–Jul), and Fall (Sep–Oct)
What you’ll do
- Officiate youth NFL FLAG games in accordance with NFL FLAG rules, safety protocols, and the prescribed game format
- Manage game time, flow, and schedules to support efficient league operations
- Identify rule violations and communicate penalties clearly to players, coaches, and spectators
- Maintain neutrality and professionalism, including de-escalating disputes when needed
- Conduct pre-game field and equipment inspections to ensure safe playing conditions
- Complete required post-game reporting and documentation
- Promote a positive, welcoming environment that emphasizes learning, fun, and respect for all participants
What makes a great NFL FLAG official
- In tip-top shape. A lot of running goes into officiating, so being physically fit helps.
- Cool, calm, and collected. Stay level-headed in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledgeable of the rules and referee signals. We will help teach the rules and mechanics.
- Strong people skills. Confidently interact with players, parents, and coaches to keep games moving smoothly.
Expectations
- Officiate assigned games to RCX Sports standards
- Submit timely post-game reports as required
- Arrive on time and represent RCX Sports professionally at all assigned locations
Location
- Michigan (multiple league locations; assignments may vary by week/site - submit your location availability in the application)
- You may be scheduled at various locations within a 25-mile radius of the primary area where you apply (based on league needs and your availability) and locations can change week to week.

We work alongside the local operators, coaches, and families who run youth sports every day, adding the tools, partnerships, and support that help their programs grow.
Our partners run flag football leagues with NFL FLAG, basketball programming through Jr. NBA, hockey programming with NHL STREET and Learn to Play, soccer experiences with MLS GO, and baseball and softball programs with MLB Pitch, Hit & Run. Operators keep full control of their season structure, pricing, registration, age divisions, league format, and local identity. We bring the pro-league partnerships families recognize, marketing tools that help increase registrations, coach resources built for volunteers, and dedicated onboarding and ongoing support that keeps things running smoothly.
Our work reaches communities in all 50 states, supporting millions of young athletes, families, coaches, and league operators every year. From a first practice to a regional tournament to a national championship moment, we help local programs deliver a bigger experience without giving up what makes them theirs. We also produce premium youth sports events, tournaments, showcases, and Play with the Pros activations that connect kids directly to the leagues, athletes, and culture they love.
