News Updates Editor, Real Simple

This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with People Inc. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.

People Inc. is looking for a remote editor to write content for Realsimple.com. As a news updates editor, you will write and update content in the CMS. Successful candidates for this position will be passionate and knowledgeable about home, garden, and other lifestyle content, and have morning availability in the Eastern or Central Time Zone.

Assignment Responsibilities: 

We are looking for editors who can commit to at least 10-15 hours of work per week. The rate of pay for this role is $28/hr. Applicants must live in the United States.

• Research and perform revisions, updates, and rewrites to content as needed according to specific project instructions and brand guidelines

• Write content for publication on Realsimple.com.

Skills/Experience:

• At least 2 years experience writing or editing home or lifestyle media, preferably for a news publication or magazine 

• Comfortable with researching content online and contacting and interviewing sources (primarily via email) for expertise

• A strong editorial background in home design and renovation, food/cooking, health/wellness, skincare/hair care, and/or other lifestyle categories. 

• Journalism experience strongly preferred

• Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to adopt an established brand voice and adhere to style guidelines 

• Comfortable with content management systems

• Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently, independently, and accurately

• Comfortable working remotely

• Access to a smartphone, computer (not a tablet), and a secure internet connection
