At MDC Data Centers, we’re looking for a motivated and technically curious NOC Engineer Intern to join our Network Operations Center team in McAllen, Texas.

This is an opportunity for a student or early-career professional interested in networking, telecommunications, data centers, and IT infrastructure to gain hands-on experience in a real-world, mission-critical environment.

Your Mission

As an NOC Engineer Intern, you will work alongside our Network Operations team to learn how MDC monitors, supports, and maintains the infrastructure behind our connectivity and data center services.

You’ll gain practical experience with network monitoring, ticket management, troubleshooting, incident escalation, and customer support while developing the technical and professional skills needed to grow within Network Operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist with monitoring MDC’s network and infrastructure using established tools and procedures.
• Support the review and management of alerts, tickets, and customer service requests.
• Perform basic troubleshooting under the guidance of experienced NOC team members.
• Learn to identify, document, and appropriately escalate network or service-impacting events.
• Assist with maintaining accurate incident, ticket, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Support customer communications related to service requests and technical issues.
• Help maintain internal documentation, procedures, FAQs, and knowledge-base materials.
• Participate in technical training and shadowing opportunities.
• Collaborate with other MDC teams on operational requests and special projects.
• Gain exposure to the processes required to support a 24/7/365 mission-critical environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, IP addressing, DNS, routing, switching, and network connectivity is a plus.
• Strong interest in networking, telecommunications, data centers, or IT infrastructure.
• Comfortable learning new technologies, systems, and technical processes.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to document work accurately.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Dependable, organized, and able to follow established procedures.
• Able to recognize when an issue requires escalation and ask for assistance when needed.
• Previous NOC, IT support, networking, or data center experience is a plus, but not required.
