Network Engineer

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting complex network infrastructures for a diverse portfolio of managed services clients. As a member of the Managed Security Services team, this individual serves as a trusted technical expert, ensuring client networks remain secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with cybersecurity best practices. 

This role requires strong expertise in enterprise networking, firewall administration, network security, cloud connectivity, and identity management. The Network Engineer will support Layer 2 and Layer 3 environments, VPN and SD-WAN technologies, Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID, Azure networking, and a variety of enterprise switching and wireless platforms. Working closely with cybersecurity, service delivery, and engineering teams, this position plays a critical role in protecting client environments, optimizing performance, and delivering strategic infrastructure improvements. 

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and proactive problem solver with extensive experience supporting multiple client environments, performing infrastructure assessments, leading network modernization initiatives, and delivering exceptional technical consulting within an MSP or managed services environment. 

• 6+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructures.
• Strong expertise with VLAN configuration, routing protocols, switching technologies, network segmentation, and firewall administration.
• Extensive experience with firewall platforms such as WatchGuard, SonicWall, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar enterprise security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, RBAC, identity management, and authentication technologies.
• Experience configuring and supporting Cisco, Aruba/HP, Dell, and UniFi switching and wireless environments.
• Hands-on experience with VPN technologies, SD-WAN, network security controls, and secure remote connectivity solutions.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid cloud environments.
• Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, network security best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Preferred certifications include CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSA, or equivalent.
• Prior experience within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or consulting environment strongly preferred.
• Experience with ConnectWise, IT Glue, network monitoring platforms, and documentation tools is desirable.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Design, implement, and support secure network infrastructures for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Configure and maintain enterprise routing, switching, VLANs, wireless networks, and firewall environments.
• Deploy and manage VPN, SD-WAN, and secure connectivity solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Microsoft Entra ID environments.
• Implement network security controls, identity management solutions, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Support Azure networking technologies, including virtual networks, VPN gateways, network security groups, and hybrid connectivity.
• Monitor network performance, identify issues, and proactively improve network reliability, availability, and security.
• Conduct network assessments, infrastructure audits, documentation, and architecture reviews.
• Lead or assist with network migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives with minimal client disruption.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues while collaborating with security, engineering, and support teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance and provide after-hours support when required.
