Job Summary

St. Patrick Parish, a parish of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a School Mass Musician to provide musical leadership for one of the school's weekday morning Masses.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Catholic liturgical music and a desire to support the prayer and worship of students, faculty, and the parish community through sacred music. The musician will help create an environment that encourages active participation and draws the school community more deeply into the celebration of the Mass.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide music for one designated weekday morning school Mass on a regular basis.

• Select and prepare appropriate music in accordance with the Roman Catholic liturgy, the liturgical season, and the needs of the school community.

• Lead congregational singing and provide appropriate accompaniment for hymns, psalms, and other parts of the Mass.

• Collaborate with parish and school staff to coordinate music selections and liturgical needs.

• Support and encourage student participation in the music ministry when appropriate.

• Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled Masses, rehearsals, and other agreed-upon responsibilities.

• Maintain a reverent and prayerful presence appropriate to the celebration of the Catholic Mass.

• Follow the liturgical guidelines and practices of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and St. Patrick Parish.

• Perform other music-related duties as mutually agreed upon with parish or school leadership.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Catholic liturgical music and worship.

• Experience providing music for Catholic Mass is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency on piano, keyboard, organ, guitar, or another appropriate liturgical instrument.

• Ability to lead and accompany congregational singing.

• Familiarity with the liturgical calendar, Scripture, Catholic hymnody, and appropriate music selection for Mass.

• Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, parish staff, school personnel, and students.

• Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently.

• A strong commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of St. Patrick Parish and School.
