Job Details: Job Location: 312-St Joseph-Port Aransas - Port Aransas, TX, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Port Aransas, Texas, is hiring a part-time Musician. 

Ministerial Character:

The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him.  In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community.  In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people.  He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities.  Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life 
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed 
Responsible for all aspects of the parish sacred music program, including planning and providing music for weekend Masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, some weekday Masses, and other liturgical events 
Look for and participate in opportunities to grow in knowledge of liturgical music 
Make sure general liturgical items (song boards, announcements) are in place for all weekend, Holy Day and special liturgies 
Be ready to serve music 15 minutes before all Masses 
Perform other duties as assigned

Mental/Physical Demands:

Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
Must maintain confidentiality 

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficient musician with keyboard or guitar, and vocals
A strong knowledge of the catholic worship and liturgy
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
Valid Texas driver’s license

Additional Requirements:

Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening
Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources
Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures.
