We are looking to hire a part-time sales associate for our Westminster, MD location who enjoys playing music and learning more about the industry. As a retail associate at Menchey Music, you will be important to providing helpful and accurate knowledge and guidance to guarantee that our customers have a great experience. If you have a passion for music and helping others on their musical journey, we would love to speak with you. This job will require you to work in a customer-facing environment, interacting with customers in-person, over the phone, and through email.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Work with customers to complete sales of instruments, music accessories, and sheet music.
• Process band and orchestra rental contracts - our rental program makes music accessible to everyone.
• Register customers for lessons and engage in conversation regarding the store's private lesson program The Menchey School of Music.

Other responsibilities:

• Become familiar with the products and manufacturers that the company works with
• Complete training on basic instrument knowledge, sales techniques, and new products
• Answer customer questions and concerns, understanding when to ask for help
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized storefront
• Open and close the store according to store policies
• Basic money handling and ability to accurately balance cash drawer

Salary Description

$15 per hour + commission

Requirements

Required Experience:

• HS Diploma or GED
• Ability to play a musical instrument
• General knowledge of musical instruments and written music

Preferred Experience:

• Previous retail or sales experience
