Music Concert Staff Leader

The Concerts Production Crew assists the Music Technical Associate with concert planning, setup, performance technical support, and breakdown for Music Department concerts. On concert shifts, Crew members will work in one of three areas:

• House Manager - Manages the attendees of the performance. Opens doors, ushers, hands out programs. The House Manager should be personable and enjoy interacting with a variety of people.
• Stage Manager – Manages venue needs such as lighting, music stands, on-stage technology, and other performance requirements. Coordinates with the performers/music director, House Manager, and A/V Technician to ensure punctuality and professionalism throughout the event.

• A/V Technician - Manages the technical aspects of the concert, including audio and video recording and live/amplified sound. Works with a variety of audio and video hardware and software, and other media platforms. Helps maintain an organized and up-to-date concert archive.

Crew members may ask to specialize, or may try each position. The Music Technical Associate may require Crew members to specialize due to broader concerns related to training and scheduling. Each role requires both self-direction and collaboration. While the duties are delegated separately, the Crew should act as a team. The Crew manages 30-40 events each semester, from student ensembles to world-class guest artists.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Concerts Production Crew works with the Music Technical Associate to ensure successful preparation and execution of Music Department concerts. While specific skills and responsibilities will vary for each concert position, basic job standards will apply to the whole Crew.

• Excellent organization and communication -- Crew members will regularly check communication platforms such as Teams and Email.
• Professional demeanor -- Our work is very public-facing, and we serve a variety of people, from students to faculty to guest artists and broader audience members.
• Punctuality and attendance availability – Concerts must begin (and end) on-time, and all concert work must be done on-site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Interested applicants are not required to have prior experience in any of these areas. However, we strongly prefer candidates who have experience with:

• Ensemble setup
• Stage management (theatre or music)
• Audio technology – recording, amplification, software, etc.
• Livestreaming
• Videography / photography
• Media archive / librarian
