MH Technician/Driver

Job Details: Job Location: Dallas - Residential - Dallas, TX, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Homeward Bound, a behavioral health agency, is needing a full-time driver for the crisis residential and crisis respite units. Individuals on these units are often living with depression, substance use, and other mental health issues in addition to needing longer-term housing.

Candidates for this position will need to be at least 25 years old, have a valid Texas drivers license, and be able to show proof of car insurance in Texas in order to be considered. This is a full-time position that will require working one weekend day a week. 

Transports can include taking clients to their new housing after discharging, taking them to their needed appointments, taking them to a medical or behavioral health hospital, and picking them up from the hospital.  

Some of the responsibilities of this role include

Keep drivers license and car insurance up to date 

Exercise good judgment in time and service priorities with the ability to consult when needed

Possess the ability to coordinate routes, prioritize needs, and communicate well with multiple supervisors when changes are needed

Complete all trainings required for facility personnel as well as online driver trainings annually

Be responsible for vehicle keys, updating the transportation/mileage log,  maintaining adequate fuel in the vehicle, and reviewing the vehicle spreadsheet weekly

Clean the inside of the vehicle regularly, keep the fire extinguisher up to date, and maintain the first aid kit to ensure that it is full and accessible

Communicate with supervisors when the vehicle needs any maintenance and ensure that it is taken to the dealership or other designated place for needed service 

Be able to work with other teams in order to coordinate transportation when unable to provide a necessary trip

Become adept with working with individual who have had a significant amount of trauma 

Be prepared to stay with clients through the admission process when going to a behavioral health hospital

Characteristics needed include neatness, accuracy, adaptability, striving towards excellence, and being able to take initiative 

At times when no driving is needed, the driver will operate as a mental health tech on both the crisis residential and the crisis respite units
