The Mental Health Therapist at Latino Community Development Agency (LCDA) will provide culturally competent mental health services to individuals, families, and groups within the Latino community. The therapist will focus on promoting mental wellness, addressing mental health issues, and supporting clients in achieving their personal and emotional goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
Collaborate with clients to set therapeutic goals and monitor progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with agency policies and legal requirements.
Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, healthcare providers, and community organizations, to coordinate care and provide holistic support to clients.
Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Participate in community outreach and educational programs to raise awareness about mental health services and reduce stigma within the Latino community.
Stay updated on the latest research and developments in mental health therapy to continuously improve service delivery.
Attend regular supervision and training sessions to enhance professional skills and ensure quality of care.
Support the agency's mission by actively participating in team meetings and contributing to program development and evaluation efforts.
QualificationsRequired Education: Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience providing mental health therapy or counseling services.
Experience working with diverse populations, particularly within Latino communities.
Proven track record of conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
Experience in developing and implementing treatment plans.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of mental health disorders and therapeutic techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all professional interactions.
Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable to effectively communicate with Latino clients.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities.
Empathy and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

In 2005, LCDA undertook an intensive organizational challenge to earn national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities (CARF). This process established high standards of quality for our business operations, program policies, and procedures to ensure the needs of those we serve are met and the best possible outcomes are achieved. Today, LCDA is proud to have successfully maintained the highest level of CARF accreditation for the fourth consecutive term.
The trust we’ve built with the community over the years has positioned LCDA as a Latino services clearinghouse. With a dedicated team of 88 employees—50 full-time staff and a combination of part-time and contract therapists—we deliver comprehensive outreach through 24 programs and numerous events that address diverse community needs. Our efforts are further supported by university students and hundreds of volunteers, ensuring a wide-reaching impact on the communities we serve.
