Position Summary

We are hiring a part-time Mental Health Technician for alternate weekend nights (Sat/Sun 7p–7a) in Baton Rouge, LA 70816 to support safe, respectful patient care and unit operations.

Key responsibilities include supporting outpatient program tasks, documenting patient observations (behavior, vital signs, significant events), assisting nursing staff with patient care and therapeutic interventions, maintaining facility cleanliness, and helping with meal coordination and patient needs.

Required qualifications/skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- CPR certification; ability to maintain CPI certification
- 1+ year mental health experience preferred
- Clear written/verbal communication; ability to follow instructions under close supervision
- Empathic, professional demeanor with strong personal integrity
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients per essential functions

Weekend Night Flow

On weekend nights, you start with shift report and quick safety checks, then move through structured rounding and timely charting. You partner closely with the nurse and activity staff, escalating changes promptly and keeping documentation organized. During meals, you help coordinate distribution, keep the kitchen area orderly, and stay attentive to patient requests. Between rounds, you focus on keeping common areas clean, preparing for transitions such as departures, and stepping in to provide ADL support as needed. The shift is steady, patient-facing, and detail-driven, with frequent communication to maintain a calm, safe environment.
