Medical Writer, Medical Communications

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Medical Writer, Medical Communications based in the United States.

This role supports the development of scientifically accurate, evidence-based medical communications across a broad range of formats and audiences.
You will translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, engaging, and accurate content aligned with project and client objectives.
The position offers structured guidance and progressive responsibility, making it suitable for both emerging medical writers and professionals with prior writing experience.
You will contribute to manuscripts, slide decks, training materials, and other scientific deliverables while applying rigorous medical writing and editorial standards.
The role combines scientific analysis, literature research, project coordination, stakeholder communication, and collaboration with experienced scientific professionals.
You will work across multiple projects, balancing quality, timelines, budgets, and reviewer feedback in a collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:

• Draft, revise, and develop scientifically accurate content for slide decks, manuscripts, training materials, and other medical communications deliverables, with the level of supervision aligned to experience.
• Interpret clinical and preclinical data and translate complex findings into clear, accurate written content and appropriate visual representations.
• Apply AMA style, client-specific guidelines, editorial standards, and relevant team processes consistently across deliverables.
• Conduct literature searches, evaluate relevant scientific information, and organize references using appropriate tools and systems.
• Participate in internal and client meetings, contributing to content discussions and accurately capturing notes, decisions, and action items when needed.
• Incorporate feedback from internal and external reviewers accurately and efficiently while maintaining scientific integrity and consistency.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, managers, clients, and other stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Maintain an approximately 85% billable utilization goal in collaboration with the manager.
• Learn and follow team standards, SOPs, workflows, and technical processes required for successful project delivery.
• Track assignments, timelines, file handoffs, and project activities using tools such as Workfront, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
• Accurately track time, manage workloads efficiently, and complete assigned work within budgeted hours.
• Collaborate with project teams to prepare materials for regulatory and editorial review.
• Receive and apply feedback constructively while working with managers and scientific leadership to continuously strengthen medical writing skills.
• Plan effectively for periods of time off, including appropriate delegation and access planning as responsibilities increase.
• Contribute to a professional, flexible, accountable, reliable, and collaborative team environment.

Requirements:

• Doctoral-level degree in a life sciences discipline, such as PhD, PharmD, MD, or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong interest in medical writing, scientific communication, and translating scientific evidence into accessible and engaging content.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and scientific accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain high-quality work in a project-driven environment.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Familiarity with AMA style and reference management tools such as EndNote, or willingness to learn and apply them.
• Prior medical writing experience is beneficial but not required, with independence and responsibility adjusted according to previous experience.
• Strong ability to interpret clinical and scientific information and communicate complex concepts clearly to professional audiences.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to incorporate feedback from scientific, editorial, client, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organization, time management, reliability, accountability, and adaptability.
• Ability to learn new software, project management tools, team processes, and technical workflows as required.
• Commitment to following SOPs, quality standards, editorial guidelines, and established project processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while progressively taking ownership of medical writing assignments.
