POSITION PURPOSE:
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing, maintaining, and organizing patient medical records, ensuring confidentiality, compliance with regulations, and accuracy. The Medical records clerk assists healthcare professionals by ensuring that all patient information is readily accessible, secure, and up to date.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Manage Medical Records: Organize, update, and maintain patient medical records, ensuring all documents are accurate and stored in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Document Management: Scan, file, and retrieve patient records as needed by healthcare providers, ensuring records are readily accessible and properly labeled.
Data Entry: Enter and update patient information into electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Record Retrieval: Respond to requests for medical records from authorized individuals, ensuring timely processing while adhering to privacy regulations.
Verify Information: Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations before filing and storing.
Maintain Filing Systems: Create and maintain an organized filing system for both physical and electronic medical records, ensuring records are easily accessible to staff.
Prepare Reports: Generate reports and summaries from patient records for use by healthcare providers, insurance companies, or other authorized entities.

Qualifications: EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree or certification in health information management, medical records, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to organize large volumes of information accurately.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy laws and regulations.
Must be willing to get a chauffers license.
