Join the Laboratory team at Marshalltown Hospital and play a vital role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic testing that helps guide patient care across our hospital and clinics. Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and other laboratory specialties
- Analyze and verify test results while ensuring accuracy and timely reporting of critical values
- Collect, receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing and reference laboratory send-outs
- Perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure reliable testing
- Follow laboratory policies, regulatory standards, and safety guidelines
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care
- Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
- Assist with training and mentoring new team members and laboratory students
Qualifications
Education:
-
- Bachelor degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology degree from an accredited institution
- OR
- Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489(b)(2) & General Supervisor under Federal Register Sec 493.1461
License(s)/Certification(s)
- Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
