Job Summary

Mass General Brigham Heart and Vascular Institute offers expert care in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease, including general cardiology, interventional cardiology, heart failure, electrophysiology, while working collaboratively with specialized teams to support device management and anticoagulation care.

We are seeking a part-time, 16-hour Medical Assistant (two 8-hour shifts) to support our cardiology service line across multiple locations, including Dover, Somersworth, and Portsmouth NH.

This is a flexible float role designed for a highly adaptable Medical Assistant who enjoys working across different teams, providers, and clinic environments. Assignments will vary based on staffing and operational needs across the service line.

Shifts will typically be 7:30am–4:00pm or 8:30am–5:00pm, depending on assigned location.

The Medical Assistant supports providers through both clinical and administrative responsibilities, including patient rooming, obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), chart preparation, prescription refill support, results management, and assisting with patient flow and care coordination.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and contributing across a dynamic, multi-site cardiology practice.

Essential Functions

•Room patients and prepare exam rooms in a cardiology outpatient setting
•Obtain vital signs, EKGs, complete a medication reconciliation, and document accurately in the EHR
•Support medication refills and care coordination
•Assist with clinic flow and provider support
•Participate in clinical huddles and flexible provider assignments
•Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
•Support patient education and care coordination

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting preferred

Experience

• 1–2 years of Medical Assistant or clinical/medical office experience required
• Experience in a fast-paced outpatient or specialty setting strongly preferred

Licensure & Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or equivalent national certification) preferred

• Taking vital signs, manual blood pressures, and completing orthostatic vital sign measurements
• Performing EKGs (or willingness to be trained in a high-volume EKG setting)
• Using electronic medical records (EHR) and basic clinical systems
• Applying critical thinking in real-time clinical situations
• Managing time effectively and adapting to changing clinic needs
