Key Responsibilities:

MEAL & Child Protection in Emergencies Intern

Remote within the US

World Vision Internships offer a three-month opportunity for talented students and recent graduates eager to dive into the international relief and development field. We are dedicated to giving you a meaningful learning experience, where you will grow, gain valuable skills, and connect with other passionate professionals who share our mission.

Internship Opportunity

Join World Vision’s Humanitarian Operations team and contribute to strengthening the evidence that informs humanitarian responses around the world. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) and Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) teams work together to understand what is working, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure that learning is translated into better outcomes for children and communities affected by crises.

As a Humanitarian MEAL & CPiE Evidence and Learning Intern, you will support a joint evidence and learning agenda by bringing together research, program insights, and operational learning from across World Vision and the wider humanitarian sector. You will help identify key patterns, gaps, and emerging trends, while transforming complex information into practical learning products that strengthen emergency programming and improve outcomes for vulnerable children.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Evidence Synthesis: Review and synthesize research studies, evaluations, assessments, guidance documents, and program learning related to humanitarian MEAL and Child Protection in Emergencies.

  • Contribute to Strategic Learning: Organize evidence around priority learning questions, identify strengths and gaps in available knowledge, and support the development of concise learning products for internal audiences.

  • Analyze Humanitarian Data and Trends: Review selected program and response data to identify patterns, emerging issues, and learning opportunities that improve program quality, accountability, and child outcomes.

  • Explore CPiE Evidence: Examine evidence related to child protection outcomes, integration of child protection across humanitarian programming, localization and local systems, and approaches that better capture children's experiences.

  • Develop Learning Products: Translate technical information into accessible outputs such as evidence summaries, briefing notes, presentations, dashboards, and data visualizations.

  • Support Knowledge Management: Organize evidence, datasets, and learning resources to improve access and use across humanitarian responses and teams.

Why Join Us:

  • Build Evidence and Analytical Skills: Gain practical experience conducting evidence syntheses, literature reviews, data analysis, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Develop MEAL Foundations: Learn how monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems support effective decision-making and program quality in humanitarian settings.

  • Gain CPiE Experience: Develop an understanding of how humanitarian organizations assess protection risks, measure child protection outcomes, and strengthen support for children affected by crises.

  • Understand Humanitarian Learning: See how research, evaluations, operational data, and field experience come together to answer strategic learning questions and influence programming decisions.

  • Strengthen Communication Skills: Build your ability to communicate technical findings through clear, concise, and visually engaging learning products.

  • Gain Global Humanitarian Exposure: Collaborate with colleagues and learn from evidence and experiences across multiple countries and humanitarian contexts.

  • Meaningful Contribution: Take ownership of clear deliverables that contribute directly to MEAL and CPiE priorities while receiving regular coaching, supervision, and opportunities to engage with humanitarian practitioners across the organization.

  • Expand Your Horizons: Explore the international relief sector, unleash your leadership skills, and strengthen your Christian faith with Weekly Professional Development Sessions.

  • Transform Lives: Take on challenging and meaningful work assignments while developing your technical skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience.

  • Join an Inspiring Community: Form connections with a diverse nationwide intern cohort and colleagues who, inspired by their Christian faith, support children of all backgrounds, even in the most dangerous places.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Research and Analytical Skills: Strong ability to work with qualitative and quantitative information, conduct research reviews, identify patterns, and synthesize findings from multiple sources.

  • Data Analysis Skills: Comfort working with data and strong Excel skills to support analysis and interpretation.

  • Written Communication: Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex evidence into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate products.

  • Critical Thinking and Attention to Detail: Ability to assess information, identify key insights, and maintain high-quality work.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

  • Evidence-to-Action Orientation: Demonstrated interest in making sense of information and applying findings in practical ways through research projects, evaluations, literature reviews, data analysis, or similar experiences.

  • Interest in Humanitarian Action: Enthusiasm for humanitarian programming and using evidence to improve outcomes for children and communities affected by crises.

  • Commitment to our Mission: You have a demonstrated commitment to and alignment with the goals, mission, and vision of World Vision, embodying its values in all aspects of your work.
