Marriage Coordinator (NE)

St. Mary's Parish, located in Annapolis, MD, seeks candidates for a Marriage Coordinator.  The primary responsibility of the Marriage Coordinator is to provide a valuable service to wedding parties and the congregation by helping to create a meaningful and positive experience for all couples preparing for marriage. The Marriage Coordinator provides direction, support, and hospitality to the bride and groom, the wedding party, and their families. This is accomplished through advance planning, conducting wedding rehearsals, and coordinating and overseeing wedding-day activities. This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position.
 

Essential Functions:

• Facilitate communication with the bridal couple prior to the wedding to address questions and concerns, determine setup requirements, establish schedules and timelines, and identify facility needs.
• Receive and review the completed Ceremony Worksheet from the bridal couple to assist with the organization and scheduling of the wedding day.
• Conduct the wedding rehearsal on the evening before the wedding.
• Assist the congregation in celebrating the wedding liturgy.
• Uphold the protocols and policies for weddings held at St. Mary’s Parish.
• Assist the clergy by ensuring everything necessary for the celebration of the wedding is in place.
• Secure the church following the service, as appropriate, including turning off lights and locking doors.
• Collect any St. Mary’s fees prior to the rehearsal.
• Commit to serving at least one weekend per quarter (four weekends per year).

Position Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience organizing large functions or events within a Catholic parish preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church’s teachings and the Sacrament of Marriage.
• Practicing Catholic fully able to participate in the sacramental life of the church.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, personalities, and cultures with diplomacy, professionalism, friendliness, and poise.
• Proficiency in technology, including internet applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and photocopying equipment.
• Ability to lift-up to 20 pounds

Pay Rate:  Stipend of $150 per wedding
