Manager, Retail Finance

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Retail Finance based in the United States.

This role is a key finance partner to a growing retail business, helping translate commercial strategy into measurable and profitable results.
You will work closely with Retail and Sales teams to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management across major retail channels.
The position combines financial analysis, retail execution, trade spend management, and order-to-cash oversight.
You will build visibility into KPIs, identify opportunities and risks, and turn complex data into actionable recommendations for business leaders.
The role also involves improving product costs, managing deductions and retailer fees, and strengthening financial processes across the retail lifecycle.
You will operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, fully remote environment with significant cross-functional exposure and ownership.

Accountabilities:

The Manager, Retail Finance will serve as a strategic finance partner to Retail and Commercial teams, supporting both day-to-day execution and longer-term growth initiatives. The role combines analytical ownership with process improvement and requires the ability to connect financial performance, retailer dynamics, consumer trends, and commercial strategy.

• Support the execution of retail sales plans and budgets across grocery, mass, club, natural, and other retail channels.
• Build dashboards and reporting that combine internal and external data to improve visibility into financial and commercial KPIs.
• Analyze new business opportunities, competitive dynamics, market trends, and financial risks to support growth decisions.
• Partner with Sales and Retail teams on product launches, seasonal promotions, merchandising strategies, and other retail initiatives.
• Conduct post-event financial analysis of retail marketing programs and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and profitability.
• Support product innovation and new product development initiatives by assessing financial opportunities, costs, and retail fit.
• Analyze customer product assortments and provide financial insights to support portfolio decisions.
• Monitor product COGS and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
• Support trade spend visibility and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and financial returns.
• Ensure timely invoicing and collection of customer cash while acting as the finance liaison between Retail, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, and Corporate Finance teams.
• Monitor customer fines, fees, deductions, and allowances, ensuring they are accurately understood and managed.
• Review customer contracts and commercial terms to identify opportunities to minimize financial impact from deductions and fees.
• Monitor customer purchase orders for compliance with agreed commercial terms.
• Collaborate in the S&OP process to improve demand visibility, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Leverage sales data, market trends, and consumer insights to influence retail strategy and optimize financial performance.
• Provide regular financial and performance updates to senior leadership, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
• Build and improve financial processes and reporting capabilities as the retail business continues to scale.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional with strong consumer products and retail exposure, capable of combining analytical rigor with commercial judgment. You should be comfortable partnering with Sales and senior stakeholders, working with complex retail data, and operating independently in a fast-moving environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 4–7+ years of relevant experience, ideally within a CPG or consumer products organization supporting Sales teams and major retailers.
• Experience working with major retail partners such as Costco, Target, Ulta, or comparable grocery, mass, club, or specialty retailers.
• Strong financial analysis and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into practical business recommendations.
• Experience supporting retail planning, budgeting, forecasting, P&L analysis, or commercial finance activities.
• Strong understanding of retail economics, trade spend, customer deductions, retailer fees, and order-to-cash processes.
• Ability to analyze sales performance, market trends, consumer insights, and competitive dynamics to support commercial decisions.
• Detail-oriented approach with a strong focus on operational excellence, financial accuracy, and reliable execution.
• Strong cross-functional communication and business partnership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Sales, Retail, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Supply Chain, Product Development, and other stakeholders.
• Comfortable building or improving financial processes, reporting tools, dashboards, and workflows.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and rapidly scaling environment.
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with remote teams.
