Manager, Product Design, Growth (Upper Funnel)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Product Design, Growth (Upper Funnel) based in United States.

As a Manager, Product Design, Growth (Upper Funnel), you will shape the experiences that help users discover product value, build confidence, and progress through the early stages of their journey. You will combine hands-on product design with people leadership, balancing exceptional craft with measurable growth outcomes. Your scope will span discovery, acquisition, activation, onboarding, pricing, and other key growth touchpoints. You will use behavioral data and experimentation to inform decisions and improve the end-to-end user experience. Working closely with product, engineering, research, and data science teams, you will establish scalable design patterns and raise the quality of growth design across the organization. This is a highly collaborative role where user trust, clarity, product quality, and business objectives are considered together.

Accountabilities:

• Define high-quality, user-centered experiences across discovery, acquisition, activation, onboarding, pricing, upgrade flows, and lifecycle touchpoints.

• Own growth design initiatives end to end, from problem definition and concept development through prototyping, experimentation, production, and measurement.

• Deliver polished UX and visual design while using AI-assisted prototyping and rapid experimentation to explore ideas, identify risks, and communicate product direction.

• Use funnel metrics, behavioral data, experiment results, and user signals as primary inputs into design decisions.

• Develop and lead experiments across acquisition, activation, and expansion funnels, partnering closely with product and data science teams to establish hypotheses, success metrics, and readouts.

• Establish reusable growth patterns within the design system that balance clarity, persuasion, usability, and long-term user trust.

• Partner closely with engineers to ensure design intent, quality, and interaction details are accurately implemented.

• Directly manage and develop one to three designers through regular 1:1s, goal setting, performance feedback, mentorship, and career development.

• Balance hands-on individual-contributor work with people leadership, remaining deeply involved in product design and execution.

• Mentor designers working on growth-related experiences and help develop stronger instincts around hierarchy, motivation, friction, and funnel thinking.

• Lead workshops and collaborative working sessions focused on pricing, packaging, onboarding, upgrade opportunities, and other key growth moments.

• Help cross-functional teams understand growth as an end-to-end system, identifying where user value is created or lost throughout the funnel.

• Champion user trust as an essential part of sustainable growth and help teams identify situations where commercial objectives and product quality may be in tension.

• Contribute to design critiques, research initiatives, experimentation practices, and broader design excellence across the organization.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of product design experience, ideally within SaaS, productivity tools, collaboration software, self-serve products, or product-led growth environments.

• Demonstrated experience leading growth, monetization, conversion, acquisition, or activation-focused design initiatives.

• Strong understanding of acquisition, activation, retention, and expansion as interconnected parts of the user journey.

• Experience designing in-product discovery, onboarding, sign-up, activation, pricing, or upgrade experiences.

• Strong data fluency, including the ability to interpret behavioral data, funnel metrics, experiment results, and user signals to inform design decisions.

• Exceptional product design craft, with strong attention to visual clarity, hierarchy, spacing, interaction design, motion, and overall polish.

• Systems-thinking ability and an understanding of how design decisions affect connected surfaces, journeys, and long-term user relationships.

• Experience designing within established systems while also being comfortable creating new patterns where playbooks do not yet exist.

• Experience mentoring, managing, or informally leading other designers, with the ability to raise the quality and effectiveness of the broader team.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence product, engineering, research, and data partners.

• Curiosity and proactive problem-solving skills, including the ability to explore edge cases, anticipate constraints, and look beyond the immediate brief.

• Empathy for first-time users and a strong understanding of trust, motivation, cognitive load, and user behavior.

• Comfort working in fast-moving, experiment-driven environments where iteration and continuous learning are central to the design process.

• Experience with pricing architecture, packaging strategy, or monetization models is a plus.

• Experience mapping and designing complete activation journeys from first interaction through meaningful value realization is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design tools, prototyping, or vibe coding is a plus.

• Experience with large-scale organic acquisition or activation funnels is a plus.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted product experiences or contextual intelligence in growth flows is a plus.

• Experience collaborating with data science teams on experimentation frameworks or causal inference is a plus.

• Experience creating 0-to-1 growth systems or redesigning underperforming acquisition or retention journeys is a plus.

Benefits:

• Estimated annual base salary of $169,435 – $211,794 for US-based employees.
