Open Door is currently seeking a Manager of Behavioral Health at our Ossining site, working four days per week onsite and one day remotely. The Manager of Behavioral Health is responsible for Open Door’s Article 28 LCSW/therapist team. The Manager, Behavioral Health ensures that services are fully integrated across all sites/departments/programs and are provided according to the patient-centered medical home model, with an emphasis on patient-focused, team-based care. Primary responsibilities include staff supervision, behavioral health consultation and direct provision of high-quality evidence-based mental health treatment and substance use counseling to individuals across the lifespan via individual, family and group modalities. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

STAFF SUPERVISION

Provides individual and group supervision, including clinical supervision, coaching and mentoring to direct reports 
Supervises and mentors social work/mental health counseling/marriage and family therapy students, interns, and other behavioral health trainees by providing clinical guidance, professional development, and ongoing performance oversight
Participates in human resource management activities including staff recruitment, orientation/training, competency/performance evaluation programs, and performance improvement activities
Monitors productivity and quality/process measures and implements improvement activities when needed
Conducts chart reviews, data tracking, data reporting, and quality improvement activities
Receives call out notifications and time-off request from staff; notifies site leadership and team members; ensures that patients and notified and visits rescheduled 
Provides supervisory and operational coverage for non-direct report staff in the Behavioral Health Department when managers are unavailable (e.g. planned and unplanned absences, meetings) maintaining continuity of services and staff support
Participates in the planning and implementation of team meetings
Collaborates with supervisor to develop, implement and monitor program goals, objectives and quality improvement activities
Addresses and resolves patient/client complaints or concerns and responds to incident reports
Ensures that mental health and substance use services are fully integrated across all sites and lines of business 
Participates in the planning of workflows and policies and procedures
Ensures that that staff perform duties in accordance with applicable Federal, State, Open Door and program-specific policies and procedures, safety, environmental and infection control standards, guidelines and laws 
Perform other duties as assigned

DIRECT CLINICAL CARE

Provides direct clinical care to patients for approximately 2 days per week 
Provides clinical diagnosis, assessment and evidence-based behavioral health treatment and substance use counseling to individuals across the lifespan via individual, family and group modalities  
Works collaboratively with the patient, primary care team and other service providers to improve patient medical outcomes; communicates regularly with other care team members
Develops treatment plans and goals in collaboration with each patient; ensures the participation of the health care team and other service providers as appropriate
Provides crisis intervention and conducts “Warm Hand Off” assessments as needed
Documents accurately all clinical interventions, diagnosis, symptoms, presenting problems, and applicable information in the Electronic Medical Record
Incorporates health and wellness education and referrals to other providers as appropriate
Other duties as assigned

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONSULTATION

Maintains current knowledge regarding diagnosis and treatment of mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders 
Provides training on mental health and substance use topics including co-occurring disorders
Services as a subject matter expert, providing consultation on patient cases for staff across all departments and disciplines; intervenes directly with patients in complex situations
Participates in, convenes and facilitates inter-disciplinary case conferences 
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Master’s Degree in Social Work
Current New York State registration and license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

EXPERIENCE

5+ years of clinical experience required; 8+ years preferred 
1 to 3 years of staff management and clinical supervision experience required

Strong public presentation skills
Highly organized and self-directed, able to multi-task

Effective in problem solving and exhibits excellent judgment and prioritization 
Passionate about providing high quality care to low-income, under-served individuals, those lacking access to health care, people who use drugs, and other groups historically experiencing stigmatization
Functions effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team 
Culturally competent/sensitive (racial, ethnic, linguistic, LGBTQ+, physical ability, etc.) and committed to inclusive, multi-cultural programming
Mastery of computer use, including Microsoft Office applications
Experience using Electronic Medical Records
Strong writing, reading and data analysis skills 
Fluent in Spanish

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have valid New York State driver license and daily access to a car

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manual dexterity and regular hours at computer keyboard
Approximately 75% sitting and 25% walking/standing
Bending and lifting may be required
