The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) is committed to helping end heart rhythm disorders and saving lives. HRS is the international leader in science, education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients, and the primary information resource on heart rhythm disorders. HRS’s mission is to improve patient care by promoting research, education and optimal health care policies and standards. HRS represents more than 9,000 cardiac pacing and electrophysiology professionals in over 90 countries.

Position Summary

The Manager, Member Development is an organized and operational program manager responsible for the support, execution, and optimization of a portfolio of programs and products that advance the mission of the Heart Rhythm Society (“HRS”). This role manages the delivery of cross-functional initiatives — such as live clinical education, member development and member engagement programs — ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and measurable impact.

The Manager, Member Development partners closely with the Assoc Director, Member Development, clinical faculty, committees, and internal/external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant, and innovative programs and products within budget that serve HRS members and the mission of the organization.

The ideal candidate for this role is a mission-driven, healthcare-savvy program manager who can translate program objectives into an executed, successful program—bringing needed structure to the process while maintaining high engagement and measurable impact to a portfolio of learning and development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Program Development & Program Portfolio Management

• Organize and manage a portfolio of established learning and development programs, including programs within the HRS Leadership Institute, to achieve high-impact, successful programs that are delivered within budget and on-time. 
• As requested, support and participate in multi-stakeholder team efforts in the development of new programs aligned with organizational goals, mission, and member needs. 
• Translate identified priorities into operational plans, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. 
• Maintain excellent project management records and demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple programs simultaneously.
• Help the organization identify opportunities for new program development, innovation, and growth. 

Program Execution & Operational Excellence

• Lead end-to-end program lifecycle management (planning, execution, evaluation, continuous improvement). 
• Follow established governance structures, develop performance metrics, and reporting frameworks across programs. 
• Ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining quality standards. 
• Implement best practices in program management, including risk mitigation, change management, and process standardization. 

Healthcare & Medical Society Project Management

• Help develop and lead various programs & initiatives as assigned, such as the HRS LEAP program, with associated derivatives and member engagement programs.
• Ensure compliance with society regulations, accreditation standards, and grant requirements. 
• Collaborate with clinical leaders, committees, and subject matter experts to develop evidence-based programming.
• Support in translating emerging healthcare trends in electrophysiology into actionable programs.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Serve as a valuable liaison between leadership, clinical committees, member leaders, partners, and internal/external stakeholders. 
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with clinician leaders, partner societies, hired vendors, industry partners, and patient advocacy groups as required. 
• Facilitate consensus-building and cross-sector collaboration to drive program success.

Financial & Resource Management

• Develop and manage assigned program budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans. 
• Monitor financial performance and ensure efficient use of organizational and grant-funded resources.
• Support the Development/Fundraising team in revenue-generating initiatives as requested (e.g., sponsorships, grants, and, prospecting for new educational offerings).

Data, Evaluation & Impact

• Establish metrics and dashboards to track program performance, outcomes, and ROI. 
• Evaluate program effectiveness, faculty impact, and drive improvements based on metrics/data and stakeholder feedback. 
• Prepare reports for executive leadership, boards, and funders.

Required Education and/or Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, business, or related field.
• Experience: 4-7 years’ proven program management experience with demonstrated expansion of role and responsibilities during that time; experience managing multi-stakeholder programs or portfolios; working knowledge of healthcare systems, clinical environments, and/or medical associations; proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and both internal and external stakeholders. Experience in a medical society, healthcare association, foundation, or nonprofit environment preferred; Familiarity with CME/CE, quality improvement collaboratives, or membership-based programs.

• Computer/System Skills:

• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Program Management Certification (“PgMP”) or equivalent certification desired.

Location

HRS, headquartered in Washington, DC, operates under a full-time remote office setup. HRS hires candidates from most States (with the exception of CA and NY State) with preference given to candidates residing in close proximity to the DC area.
