Why us, why now?

Leads the Evaluation & Insights function, providing strategic and operational leadership for evaluation, program assessment, and portfolio and organizational insights that inform learning design, portfolio strategy, and enterprise priorities, and demonstrate program impact. Oversees the design, implementation, analysis, and continuous improvement of evaluation initiatives while supervising a team of evaluation professionals and personally leading complex, high-impact evaluation and assessment projects. Partners with Leadership Development, Member Learning and Engagement (MLE), the Office of the President (OPRES), and other stakeholders across clusters to translate evaluation findings into actionable recommendations that improve participant outcomes, strengthen programs and services, identify emerging opportunities, and enable evidence-informed decision making across the association. Establishes evaluation standards, advances portfolio-level insights and analytics, builds organizational evaluation capability, and fosters a culture of evidence-informed decision making, continuous learning, and improvement.

How you will make an impact?

Lead Evaluation & Insights Strategy and Portfolio Decision Support:

• Lead the strategic direction of the Evaluation & Insights function to support evidence-informed decision making across the association.
• Develop and implement evaluation strategies that align with organizational priorities, portfolio goals, and participant outcomes.
• Synthesize findings across programs, initiatives, and audiences to identify trends, emerging needs, opportunities, and risks.
• Translate evaluation findings into actionable recommendations that inform learning design, portfolio strategy, program development, pricing, delivery models, investment decisions, and continuous improvement.
• Develop portfolio-level dashboards, executive summaries, and analytics that support strategic planning and organizational decision making.
• Contribute evaluation and insights to enterprise initiatives, strategic planning efforts, and cross-functional decision making.
• Develop cross-portfolio insights that identify trends, gaps, opportunities, and emerging needs to inform organizational priorities and future investments.

Lead Evaluation, Assessment, and Organizational Insight Generation:

• Personally lead complex, high-impact evaluation and assessment projects supporting Member Learning and Engagement (MLE), the Office of the President (OPRES), and other association initiatives.
• Design and oversee evaluation plans, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and mixed-method evaluation approaches.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses and interpret findings using appropriate evaluation methodologies.
• Develop reports, presentations, and visualizations that communicate findings clearly to diverse stakeholder groups.
• Ensure evaluation activities reflect professional standards, sound methodology, and organizational priorities.

Lead Evaluation Operations, Standards, and Continuous Improvement:

• Establish and maintain evaluation frameworks, methodologies, templates, standards, and reporting practices that promote consistency and quality across the association.
• Oversee the planning, prioritization, and execution of evaluation projects to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Ensure appropriate data quality, confidentiality, documentation, and compliance with association policies and applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with technology and data partners to define business requirements and enhance evaluation systems, reporting tools, and operational processes.
• Continuously improve evaluation processes, workflows, dashboards, and reporting approaches to increase efficiency, usability, and organizational value

Lead and Develop the Evaluation & Insights Team:

• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of evaluation professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Assign, prioritize, and balance work based on organizational priorities, team capacity, and staff development goals.
• Review evaluation plans, analyses, reports, and recommendations to ensure methodological rigor, consistency, and quality.
• Establish performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and support professional growth.
•  Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Build Strategic Partnerships and Organizational Evaluation Capability:

• Serve as a strategic advisor to Member Learning and Engagement (MLE), the Office of the President (OPRES), and other stakeholders on evaluation strategy and the effective use of evidence across the association clusters.
• Build organizational capacity for evaluation by providing consultation, guidance, training, and resources that strengthen evaluation planning and interpretation across teams.
• Partner with instructional designers, program leaders, and organizational stakeholders to integrate evaluation throughout the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of programs and services.
• Foster an organizational culture that values evidence-informed decision making, learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Represent the Evaluation & Insights function on cross-functional teams and organizational initiatives as appropriate.

What you will bring to the role?

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in program evaluation, education, educational research, organizational development, social sciences, public administration, psychology, sociology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferred Education: Doctoral degree or advanced graduate study in program evaluation, educational research, learning sciences, organizational psychology, public administration, or a related discipline.
• 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in program evaluation, assessment, organizational research, learning analytics, or a related field, including experience leading complex evaluation initiatives and translating findings into organizational recommendations.
• 2-4 years of experience supervising professional staff, leading cross-functional teams, or managing complex organizational initiatives.

• Translating complex evaluation findings into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholder groups.
• Leading evaluation projects from planning through implementation, analysis, reporting, and follow-up.
• Developing executive-level reports, dashboards, presentations, and data visualizations.
• Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to support organizational priorities.
• Managing multiple complex projects while balancing competing priorities and organizational needs.
• Building collaborative relationships and influencing decisions in matrixed environments.
• Supervising, coaching, and developing professional staff.
• Working with survey platforms, data visualization tools, and common analytical software.

Preferred Experience:

• Evaluating leadership development, professional learning, educational programs, or organizational development initiatives.
• Supporting portfolio-level evaluation and strategic planning.
• Applying learning science, adult learning principles, or instructional design concepts to evaluation.
• Working within higher education, healthcare, academic medicine, professional associations, or nonprofit organizations.
• Developing organizational dashboards and portfolio analytics.
• Building evaluation capacity across organizations through consultation, coaching, or training.

Remote Work Eligibility

This is a remote-eligible position at AAMC. Candidates may reside anywhere within the contiguous United States, excluding California, Massachusetts, New York, and Oregon.

Compensation Grade Range

$140,250.00-$165,000.00

Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors may include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions.  One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
