Manager, Employee Communications & Engagement

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Employee Communications & Engagement based in United States.

This role leads the day-to-day execution of employee engagement, communications, community, and connection programs across a complex organization.
You will help strengthen employee participation through network programs, storytelling, recognition, events, and community initiatives.
The position combines communications expertise with hands-on program and project management across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
You will develop clear, engaging content for enterprise audiences while ensuring alignment with messaging, brand, accessibility, and business priorities.
The role works closely with senior leaders, HR, communications, employee network leads, and business partners in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
You will also monitor participation and communication performance, using insights and feedback to improve program delivery.
This is a fully remote opportunity for a U.S. citizen, with occasional travel to the Virginia area for on-site collaboration.

Accountabilities

• Serve as an operational partner to employee network leaders, providing guidance on annual planning, program execution, leadership activities, budgets, expenses, policies, and administrative processes.

• Coordinate enterprise employee network initiatives, leadership forums, events, and engagement activities that strengthen employee connection and collaboration.

• Support community impact, volunteerism, giving, and CSR-related employee activation initiatives.

• Develop, write, edit, and distribute employee communications, including emails, intranet content, newsletters, leadership messages, presentations, toolkits, event materials, and promotional content.

• Create employee-focused stories highlighting achievements, recognition, community involvement, network activities, and organizational culture.

• Partner with enterprise communications teams to align messaging with editorial calendars, communication frameworks, brand standards, accessibility requirements, and channel best practices.

• Manage communication calendars, project plans, timelines, stakeholder inputs, logistics, and materials for employee engagement programs and events.

• Support initiatives focused on employee connection, recognition, appreciation, collaboration, career development, and employee voice.

• Build trusted relationships with executive sponsors, HR, Talent, Learning & Development, Employee Experience, communications teams, network leaders, and business stakeholders.

• Prepare executive sponsors and advisors for leadership conversations, events, and network activities through briefing materials, content coordination, and follow-up.

• Track participation, program activity, event outcomes, and communication performance using established reporting processes.

• Maintain accurate records, dashboards, calendars, status reports, and program documentation.

• Identify delivery risks, dependencies, and resource constraints and escalate issues with practical recommendations.

• Monitor relevant policy, regulatory, legal, and executive developments and coordinate approved updates to program guidance and communications.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and other employee engagement projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Typically 8+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, community or network management, program management, HR, organizational development, marketing, or a related discipline.

• Experience developing employee-facing communications and coordinating enterprise programs, campaigns, events, or stakeholder-driven initiatives within a complex organization.

• Experience supporting employee networks, employee resource groups, community programs, CSR initiatives, or comparable employee programs is preferred.

• Strong writing, editing, storytelling, verbal communication, facilitation, and content development skills across multiple communication channels.

• Strong project and program management capabilities, including the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, deadlines, events, and stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to translate business priorities and employee needs into clear, audience-focused communications.

• Experience using digital communication, collaboration, intranet, event management, and reporting platforms.

• Ability to track participation and communication metrics, identify trends, and translate insights into practical improvements.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through, discretion, and judgment when handling sensitive information.

• Ability to adapt effectively within a fast-paced, matrixed environment with changing priorities.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Ability to work remotely from the United States and travel periodically, less than 10%, to the Chantilly, Virginia area.
