Definition:

Under close supervision, maintains Music Pier grounds and facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, pleasant environment for staff, performers and the public, as well as, preparing various facilities for recreation and leisure programs.

Located on the historic Ocean City boardwalk, the Ocean City Music Pier is a leading Performing Arts Center on the Jersey Shore and is home to a professional orchestra, hosts world renowned musical arts/bands, fully staged productions and is Ocean City’s premiere event space. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Drives a pickup truck to the various locations to deliver tables and chairs. Sets up/tears down Music Pier events; maintains the cleanliness of assigned areas; carry out minor repairs to flooring, trim, walls and other such building maintenance; directs and monitors appropriate use of the facilities; loads /unloads equipment to and from the Music Pier; performs other related duties as required. During events will usher patrons to their seats while being patient, helpful and courteous. Assists with backstage crew needs for the many acts and events.

Requirements:

Knowledge of: Procedures, materials, and tools used in washing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, painting, spackling, sanding, and polishing wood, tile, cement, linoleum, glass, and other flooring, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures; use of and minor adjustment to sweepers, vacuum cleaners, floor waxers, polishers, Small power tools, and other equipment.

Ability to: Handle cleaning problems, lift and move moderately heavy objects, organize cleaning work and develop work methods; understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions and learn quickly from directions and demonstrations; maintain a building, office unit or area in a clean, hygienic and orderly condition; follow safety precautions and report potentially hazardous conditions; work harmoniously with others; keep simple records; read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

Special Requirements:

Valid Driver's license or ability to obtain one. 

Tools and Equipment Used:

Pickup truck, scissor lift, one man lift, ladders, cleaning materials, painting materials, power washer, floor cleaning machines and small power tools.

Physical Demands:

Position requires employee to: Continuously stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequently talk or hear, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell; and occasionally sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. With assistant, set up and break down stage platforms, push wheeled racks of tables and chairs to a storage building approximately one-half city block to a storage building.

Specific vision requirements: Close, distance, peripheral, and ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment:

Position requires employee to: Frequently lift 25 to 50 lbs., work in wet conditions, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals; and occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, and exposed to risk of electrical shock. Noise level is moderate to loud.
