SUMMARY

Performs preventive maintenance activities. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems and certain types of tooling in an industrial environment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Manage and maintain preventive maintenance program to existing standards to ensure compliance.
Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery, equipment and certain tooling.
Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
Record parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
Record repairs and maintenance performed.

QUALITY STANDARDS

Must be able to understand and perform to quality standards, methods, usage of inspection devices and reporting as required.

Must understand and complete labor or time sheets accurately.

SAFETY

To maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards, i.e.: Proper use of personal protective equipment and proper use of safety devices, such as lockout, as required.  Safe operation of all machinery, tools and equipment.

TEAMWORK

Actively participate in department/shift/team meetings.  Participation with safety or quality suggestions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain conditions require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
Qualifications: ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of an Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

BENEFICIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
