Maintenance Mechanic

Job Details: Job Location: PPU JM EAGLE - PUEBLO WEST, CO, Salary Range: $25.00 - $33.00Hourly, SUMMARY:                                                                                                                                        

The Maintenance employee is responsible for efficient operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment in a PVC production environment.

This position works closely with Maintenance Leads, Maintenance Technicians, Production Supervisors, and Machine Operators to keep equipment operating safely and minimize downtime. The Maintenance employee is expected to develop basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and troubleshooting skills through hands-on training and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                 

Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs on production equipment, machinery, conveyors, pumps, motors, and related systems.
Assist experienced maintenance personnel with equipment troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and adjustments.
Inspect equipment for abnormal noise, vibration, leaks, wear, or other potential problems.
Perform basic mechanical tasks including lubrication, bearing replacement, belt and chain adjustments, alignment, and component replacement.
Assist with pneumatic and hydraulic system repairs and troubleshooting.
Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and component replacement within the employee's training and authorization.
Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and basic maintenance equipment safely and correctly.
Assist with machine changeovers, equipment adjustments, and production line repairs as needed.
Respond to production equipment problems and communicate equipment conditions to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
Follow preventive maintenance schedules and complete required maintenance documentation.
Maintain a clean and organized maintenance work area.
Follow all lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, housekeeping, and other plant safety requirements.
Follow company procedures for handling tools, equipment, lubricants, chemicals, and other maintenance materials.
Assist with maintaining an adequate inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and potential maintenance concerns.
Work cooperatively with production employees and other maintenance personnel to resolve equipment problems.
Learn plant equipment, processes, maintenance procedures, and safety requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:                                                                                        

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-3 year of related experience   and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding knowledge is required, with the ability to read schematics in all related areas.  Experience with computers and basic keyboarding skills.                                                                                                                                                                            

LANGUAGE SKILLS:                                                                                                                

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.                                                                                                                                                 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:                                                                                                        

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages. Ability to work with the metric system.                                                                                                                                   REASONING ABILITY:                                                                                                                                                               

Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in changing situations. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to make accurate and timely decisions in a stressful environment.

Works near moving mechanical and hydraulic equipment in a loud noise level environment. Works inside and outside hot/cold weather conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
