Position Summary

The Maintenance & Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the fuel terminal property, grounds, buildings, and designated equipment. This position performs routine groundskeeping, preventive maintenance, general repairs, cleaning, and facility upkeep to help ensure the terminal remains safe, operational, and professional.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and within an active fuel terminal environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Perform routine groundskeeping, including mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, debris removal, and general property cleanup.
Maintain parking areas, driveways, walkways, fencing, gates, drainage areas, and other exterior portions of the terminal property.
Perform general building and facility maintenance, including minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
Inspect grounds, buildings, and assigned equipment for maintenance needs, damage, hazards, or unsafe conditions.
Assist with basic maintenance involving doors, locks, lighting, plumbing fixtures, painting, and other facility components as qualified and assigned.
Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping of maintenance areas, storage areas, workspaces, and exterior grounds.
Remove trash, debris, weeds, snow, ice, and other materials as necessary to maintain safe access to the facility.
Operate lawn equipment, hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, and other maintenance equipment safely and appropriately.
Assist with seasonal property maintenance and weather-related preparation.
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
Identify and promptly report equipment malfunctions, leaks, spills, property damage, safety hazards, or environmental concerns to management.
Follow all company safety procedures and fuel-terminal-specific requirements.
Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow applicable OSHA, environmental, fire-safety, and company procedures while performing assigned duties.
Maintain clear access to emergency equipment, exits, fire extinguishers, and designated safety areas.
Assist terminal personnel, contractors, and vendors with maintenance-related projects as directed.
Complete maintenance logs, inspection records, or other documentation as required.
Perform additional maintenance, groundskeeping, and facility-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Prior maintenance, groundskeeping, facilities, industrial, mechanical, or similar hands-on experience required.
Experience working in an industrial, fuel, petroleum, warehouse, terminal, or similar environment is preferred.
Basic knowledge of general maintenance practices, tools, and equipment.
Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to recognize potential safety hazards and report concerns immediately.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Dependable attendance and ability to respond appropriately to changing maintenance priorities.
Must follow all company safety, security, environmental, and operational policies.

Work Environment

This position works in and around an active fuel terminal. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, petroleum products, moving vehicles and equipment, mechanical equipment, elevated noise levels, dust, fumes, and other conditions associated with an industrial environment. Appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures are required.

The physical demands of this position include:

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 pounds.
Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
Ability to safely use ladders and access elevated or difficult-to-reach areas when required.
Ability to perform physical work for extended periods.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
Ability to work around fuel, petroleum products, vehicles, machinery, equipment, noise, dust, and other conditions commonly associated with a fuel terminal.
Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all safety requirements.

Safety Expectations

Safety is an essential function of this position. The Maintenance & Groundskeeper must follow all established safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, leaks, damaged equipment, or other potential hazards. Employees must not perform work for which they have not been properly trained or authorized.

Because this position operates within a fuel terminal environment, strict compliance with company policies regarding ignition sources, smoking, hazardous materials, PPE, emergency procedures, and restricted areas is required.
