Mainframe Application Developer – COBOL/DB2

CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Application Developer – COBOL/DB2 position for our client.

Location: Piscataway, NJ
Duration: 12 months

Duties:

• Develop, maintain, and support mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.

• Perform application enhancements, troubleshooting, debugging, testing, and production support.

• Analyze and resolve production incidents, abends, and batch processing issues.

• Support batch and online processing and collaborate with technical and business teams.

• Perform SQL queries, database updates, performance tuning, and application maintenance.

• Support legacy application modernization, integration, and data transformation initiatives.

Skills:

• COBOL / Enterprise COBOL

• JCL and DB2 / SQL

• Mainframe application development and production support

• CICS / CICS TS, VSAM, IMS DB/TM

• TSO/ISPF/SDSF and z/OS utilities

• Endevor/Changeman, CA 7/Control-M

• Abend analysis, including S0C4, S0C7, S0C9, and SB37

• REXX/CLIST, IBM MQ, Assembler, PL/I

• File-AID, Abend-AID, Xpediter

• Mainframe-to-distributed integration and legacy modernization

• DevOps/CI-CD, Git/Jenkins, Zowe/z/OSMF

Experience:

• Experience developing and supporting enterprise mainframe applications.

• Strong COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SQL experience.

• Experience with production support, incident resolution, debugging, and batch/online processing.

• Experience with performance and batch optimization and mainframe application troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of RACF/mainframe security, API/REST enablement, application discovery, and dependency analysis is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $110,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
