Job Description
Overview
The Lung Cancer Screening Patient Representative will provide administrative support to the Lung Cancer Screening Program, Clinical Operations, and clerical assistance. This individual will work to improve coordination of patient care, help patients navigate the healthcare system, reduce barriers when possible and support achievement of program deliverables through various resources. This position will require the ability to interact with personnel as well as outside agencies and patients, the ability to act independently to carry out duties and responsibilities of the job without specific supervision by people or procedure, and the aptitude to establish work priorities to meet established deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Lung Cancer Screening Program and related clinical operations.
- Perform clerical duties that support overall program efficiency.
- Receive, prioritize, and appropriately triage telephone calls.
- Compose memos, reports, meeting minutes, and other documents as requested.
- Assist with data entry, data management, and submission of information to appropriate registries.
- Enter patient encounter information and follow-up schedules into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Maintain records in an accurate, organized, and timely manner.
- Create reports and perform record-keeping functions as requested.
- Promote communication and education between patients and healthcare providers.
- Escalate ongoing issues to the Service Line Coordinator.
- Track and manage patient referrals, appointments, scheduling, and authorizations.
- Plan and participate in community education events and health fairs.
- Coordinate patient appointments and provide support throughout the screening process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum Work Experience
- At least one (1) year of experience working in a clinic or hospital setting.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficient in the use of Meditech and PACS systems.
- Knowledge and operation of standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a healthcare environment.
