LPN / Licensed Practical Nurse - QuickCare Clinics 60-90%25

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient-centered 60-90%25 Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in our Quick Care (Walk-in) Clinics. Our Licensed Practical Nurses are responsible to help a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric, ensure patient care standards are met, and provide access to additional care options. This position is part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. Standard shifts will be primarily 10 - 12 hour shifts, but could vary based on clinic need.

Duties to include:

• Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
• Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
• In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.

Percent of Time: 60-90%25 (24-36 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday – Sunday 7:00AM – 7:00PM. Rotating weekends and holidays.

Location: Iowa City, IA *(and surrounding clinics based on clinical need/hours) 

Pay Grade: 11 

Required Qualifications:

·         Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.

·         Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.

Special Qualification/License:

·         Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards. 

·         Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Highly Desired Requirements

• Minimum one year experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse/LPN.
• Previous experience in QuickCare Clinics. 
• Ambulatory experience
• EPIC experience

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous Walk-In Clinic experience.
