Description

We are seeking an Analytics Engineer with deep Looker expertise to provide L3/L4 support for a business critical enterprise analytics platform used across EBI, TPX, CX, GPO, and select Sky users. The role will stabilize platform operations, support cloud migration readiness, enable API based AI use cases, and transfer knowledge to rebuild sustainable in house capability.

Business Need

Looker platform scale, support demand, and roadmap complexity have increased following a recent ownership transition. Concurrent initiatives including a POC to migrate from customer hosted to Google hosted Looker Core, AI driven analytics use cases, and Teradata to Snowflake validation through Looker require Looker expertise to mitigate delivery and operational risk.

Scope of Work

Platform Engineering & Operations

• Provide L3/L4 production support for Looker (Dev/Prod)

• Lead and validate upgrades, releases, and patching

• Support GitHub/LookML workflows and Dev/Prod coordination

• Troubleshoot complex performance and modeling issues

Access, Governance & Identity

• Implement scripted user provisioning and entitlement management

• Address access issues including Azure AD group synchronization and entitlement drift

• Establish governance guardrails and documentation

API & Advanced Use Cases

• Support Looker APIs (Inline Queries, Query ID, Admin APIs)

• Validate performance, concurrency, and usage patterns

• Enable API driven AI use cases (dynamic SQL generation)

Cloud Migration (Looker Core)

• Define and execute test criteria for customer hosted → Google hosted Looker Core

• Support POC execution with minimal platform risk

Data Platform Modernization

• Support Teradata to Snowflake query validation via Looker

• Standardize modeling, query behavior, and performance expectations

Knowledge Transfer

• Produce documentation, runbooks, and best practices

• Mentor internal engineers to transition ownership

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years in analytics/BI engineering roles

• 4+ years of hands on Looker experience in enterprise environments

• Expert in LookML, Looker Dev/Prod workflows, and GitHub based CI/CD

• Strong Looker API experience (Inline Queries, SDKs, Admin APIs)

• Experience supporting platforms with 1,000+ users

• Familiarity with identity and access management (Azure AD preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating Looker to Google hosted Looker Core

• Experience with Teradata and Snowflake

• Exposure to AI/ML enabled analytics or conversational BI

Engagement Outcomes

• Reduced risk during upgrades and migration activities

• Successful execution of Looker Core POC

• Improved platform stability, governance, and performance

• Knowledge transfer enabling long term in house ownership

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
