Locum Physician - Neonatology

**Practice Overview:**

**Patient Demographics:**

- **Population Mix:** Predominantly Medicaid and privately insured patients.

**Case Volume:**

- **Average Daily Census:** Approximately 35 patients, with an annual delivery volume of around 3,000 births in the CFH Labor & Delivery unit. NICU providers are present for all deliveries involving gestational ages under 32 weeks or with known congenital anomalies.

**Support Staff Composition:**
- Team includes multiple Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), registered nurses (RNs), respiratory therapists, RN managers, supervisors, and a department director along with the vice president.

**Locum Tenens Work Details:**

- **Shift Schedule:** Up to five shifts per month, primarily night coverage (95%) from 5 PM to 8 AM (15-hour shifts). Typically, the provider will be on call for one or two consecutive nights, with 1-2 NNPs present overnight and onsite.

- **Electronic Medical Record System:** Epic 

**Credentialing Timeline:**

- Priority for night shifts from 5 PM to 8 AM. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required. Start date contingent on completion of credentialing and payer enrollment.

**Procedures Required of Locum Tenens Provider:**
- Attendance at deliveries, line placements, intubation, chest tube placements, lumbar punctures, and exchange transfusions.

**Qualifications:**
- **Required:**
 - Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
 

- Active Illinois medical license.

  - Active Illinois DEA registration.

- **Considered:**
 - Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

- **Required Documentation:**
 - Availability to be provided upon request.

  - Completion of the Stratum Med Cover Sheet.
 

- Current, comprehensive CV.
 

- References following the Stratum process.

- **Preferred Candidates:**
 - Candidates who are clean and easy to credential.

**Certification Requirements:**
- Board certification and NRP completion are mandatory.

**State-Specific License Requirements:**

- Must possess an active Illinois medical license and meet board certification or eligibility standards in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, along with NRP certification.
