Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

**Coverage Details:**

- **Dates of Coverage:** Requirement for 1 to 2 weeks of coverage per month through 2027.

- **Schedule:** Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM with floor call/beeper from 3 PM to 7 AM. 

Weekend coverage includes 24-hour onsite support and on-call duties.

- **Call Coverage:** Yes, involved in both in-house and beeper/phone call duties. 

- **Call Ratio:** Required to be on call during assignment.
- 

**Average Call Back Hours:** Approximately 10 hours on weekends, depending on need.

 
- **Provider Requirement:** 1 physician needed due to practice growth.

**Practice Setting:**
- **Type:** Inpatient/Hospital-Based environment.

- **Patient Demographics:** Adult and geriatric populations.

- **Patient Distribution:** Primarily inpatient, with an average census of 20-26 patients per day.

- **Trauma Level:** Designated as Level 2.

**Clinical Responsibilities:**
- Management of post-operative care for a variety of cardiothoracic and vascular patients.

- Conduct emergency surgeries related to cardiothoracic and vascular issues.

- Handle consultations and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital services.

- Skilled in vein harvesting for cardiac procedures.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assisting in surgeries.
- Writing and managing prescriptions.

- Coordinating comprehensive patient care.
- Rounding on patients.

- Interpreting and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduit use.

**Documentation:** Utilize Epic EMR for patient documentation and record-keeping.

**Mandated Qualifications:**

- **Board Certification:** Must be board certified in Vascular Surgery (mandatory).

- **Licensure:** Active Ohio medical license or a compact license (mandatory).

- **Certifications:** Current ACLS certification (mandatory).

- **DEA Registration:** Active DEA registration (mandatory).

- **Background Check:** Clean history with no malpractice claims or licensure issues (mandatory).

- **Experience:** Minimum of 5 years in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery (mandatory)
