Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

**Specialty:** Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery  

**Coverage Dates:** From September 8, 2026, at 7 AM to September 18, 2026, with potential adjustments based on existing locum coverage.  

**Ongoing Coverage Needs:** Minimum of 1 to 2 weeks per month required until 2027.  

**Schedule:** Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with floor call/beeper coverage from 3 PM to 7 AM. On weekends, 24-hour onsite support and availability for floor or OR call.  

**Call Coverage Details:**- **Call Type:** In-House and Beeper/Phone Call  

- **Call Ratio:** Required to be on call during assignment  

- **Average Callback Hours:** Approximately 10 hours on weekends  

**Provider Requirement:** 1  
**Reason for Coverage:** Program growth  

**Practice Setting:** Inpatient/Hospital-Based  

**Leadership and Teaching:** Potential for supervisory and teaching roles.  

**Patient Population:** Adult and Geriatric  

**Patient Distribution:** Predominantly inpatient  

**Average Patient Load:** 20-26 patients per day in a hospital setting  

**Trauma Level Designation:** Level 2  

**Required Duties and Skills:**  
- Post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgical patients  

- Emergency surgery on cardiothoracic and vascular cases  

- Consultations and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers  

- Proficient in vein harvesting during cardiac surgery  

- Surgical assistance, prescription writing, care coordination, rounding, and interpretation of diagnostic tests  

- Ordering and managing diagnostic tests  

- Retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduits  

**Documentation System:** Epic  

**Shift Structure:**  
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM to 5 PM with floor call/beeper coverage from 3 PM to 7 AM  

- Saturday and Sunday: 24-hour onsite support with floor or OR call  

**Mandatory Job Requirements:**  
- Board Certification in Vascular Surgery (required) 

 
- Active Ohio medical license (must be current, no pending applications)  

- Current ACLS certification (required)  
- Active DEA registration (required)  

- Clean professional background, including no malpractice or licensing issues (strictly enforced)  

**Experience Requirements:** Minimum of 5 years in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery services (required)  

**Certification Requirements:**  
- ACLS certification  

**License Requirements:**  
- Valid Ohio medical license
