Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Psychiatry

 This Associate-level opportunity is based within a Medical Practice environment and offers a rewarding pathway for a psychiatrist looking to deliver high-quality mental health care on a flexible contract basis.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and manage ongoing patient care. As part of our medical team, you will collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patients across a range of mental health conditions, contributing to better outcomes and improved community well-being.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications as appropriate
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care when needed
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare providers
• Document patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment outcomes accurately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery strategies
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews
• Ensure compliance with medical, legal, and ethical standards in psychiatric practice
• Maintain continuity of care during the contract assignment

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Successful completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
• Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice
• Associate-level clinical experience in psychiatric care
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, treatment modalities, and psychopharmacology
• Excellent patient assessment and diagnostic skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an on-site medical setting
• Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain one
• Malpractice insurance eligibility or coverage as required for locum tenens work

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p

Call shifts required

Setting: Outpatient

Duties: Diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, medication management, follow-up care, etc.

EMR: CPRS

Any active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory accepted

Must be board-certified or board-eligible
